Sex Ed, necessary or not? Is abstinance the key?
ShiningIce said:Kids need to be aware as soon as they hit 7th grade. Abstinance, proper use of condoms, and STD awareness need to be taught TOGETHER. However the last thing a young teen needs is some youth pastor telling him/her they're going to hell if they have premarital sex.
I'm one of those parents that tells it like it is when one of my kids asks a question. I think if they're old enough to ask, they're old enough to hear the truth. In 1st grade my son already knew how babies are made. When it came up in conversation at school he came home and told me all of his friends' silly stories. Their parents were very uncomfortable with my son having given their kids real info. I can't understand that. I believe that being well-informed, not blindly following rules, is the basis for sound decision-making. As for sex ed in schools, it can't hurt. It can only help kids whose parents haven't done their job.luv2bt&tickled said:...most parents NOT ALL but some, think that they will learn it on their own or through friends. What if they are told the wrong thing?🙁 And you bet'cha that can happen!
