My favorite store is Costco, formerly known as Price Club. Rather than offer a variety of brands for an item, they figure out which brand is the best and sell it in bulk. Their quality control is to me, most impressive.
Having said that, it's impossible for me to go shopping there and not get pissed off at some point, usually within the first thirty seconds after entry. Why? Because people seem to lose all manner of driving courtesy behind the shopping cart. They stop in the middle of the aisle, heedless of the traffic they are impeding, or even worse they leave their cart in the middle of the aisle and go look for something.
When I shop, I keep to the right of the aisle at all times. Why? Because this is America and whether you're driving, walking, or doing skip-to-the-loo, you keep to the right! If I need something on the left side of the aisle, I'll park my cart on the right and fetch whatever I need. When I'm cruising down the right side of the aisle, within 20 seconds I'll encounter somebody coming straight towards me, and they look at me like I should just go around them. I've told people like this, "Folks, this is America. We keep to the right in this country." I've also said things like, "Man, I sure hope you don't drive that way in the streets!"
One woman to whom I said something favored me with the type of facial expression worn by someone who just smelled shit. She said, "In case you didn't know, this ISN'T the street."
"In what way is it any different?" I countered. She just rolled her eyes and moved along, the last defense of those with no valid argument.
Am I the only one who feels this way? That whatever driving courtesies that can be applied to shopping ought to indeed be applied? Or am I turning into an old curmudgeon, one step away from "grumpy old men"?
