With tonight's loss to the Boston Red Sox at Turner Field, the 2016 Atlanta Braves currently have a record of 4 wins, 16 losses, a 200 winning percentage, and a six game losing streak.
While baseball fans knew that the Braves were not expected to contend this season, this Braves team is on course for a historically terrible season.
The worst records in history for major league teams that I can think of..
The 1962 New York Mets.. 40 wins, 120 losses, a 250 winning percentage. Played only 160 games.
The 2003 Detroit Tigers had a 43-119 season.
The Mets, at the time, were an expansion team, made up of mostly players on the downside of their careers, guys like Roger Craig, etc.
Granted, we know that the Braves traded away much of their talent. '
However, the last time the Braves were as inept as they are this year, was the 54-106 1988 Braves.
That year, the Braves fired manager Chuck Tanner, thirty nine games into the season, with the team having a 12-27 record at the time Tanner was let go.
So. the question.
Should the Braves fire Fredi Gonzalez now, or.. because they were predicted to be bad this season, should they wait to let him go until the end of the season?
Thoughts?
