Since they play in the Rogers Centre once a year and Toronto is a much larger market, should the Bills make the move?

No. It will never happen. Not because of interest from the fans or numbers or anything, but because of advertising. Most of the major companies that advertise with the NFL are either not overly popular in Canada or are not available in Canada. Whatever revenues they get from ticket sales would be lost double (or more) from losing their advertisement sponsors.

For the NFL, it is not financially wise to expand to Canada. If anything, the Bills will move somewhere else in the US.

As a side note, there seems to be an ongoing debate of possibly uniting the CFL with the NFL... It would be sort of like the AFL-NFL merger.

I'm not sure where I stand with that idea, but what do you think Snail?

I won't happen, for the same advertising revenue reasons above. While very similar, the CFL and NFL cater to different markets. Whatever money they make in ticket sales will pale in comparison to the money lost in advertising revenues.

Other factors to consider are:
-fan base. There are some absolutely die-hard fans of the CFL who will starve before they see it disappear.
-rules. There are many rules that are different between the two leagues; enough to make the games very different. The CFL uses wider, longer fields and 3 downs per carry instead of 4, for example.
-weather. How would you feel about a Superbowl in Saskatchewan in late January under two feet of snow with a -30 after the windchill? 😉
-talent. Many CFL players don't subside on the CFL alone. Many also work as firefighters, police officers, bouncers, etc. They don't play football full-time and as such, would be outmatched against NFL teams.

Impossible? No. Probable? Highly doubtful. Hope that clears things up. 🙂

Even better. Move one of them to NY then! :jester:

Once upon a time they were both in NY. The Giants left then the Jets left after the 1983 season. I wish the Jets would come back. But now they have a new stadium, I am afraid that will not be happening anytime soon. 🙁

their staduim may be in new jersey but they are the new york jets and new york giants and i dont think any state needs more than one team

I wish they would move the Bills to L.A. and leave the Jaguars where they belong in Florida!

Why not??? Nobody likes Buffalo anyway! 😛

:doublefinger:

An emphatic HELL no.

I knew I liked you for a reason. Welcome to my Friends List.

Regarding the OP ... no. The Bills should not move to Toronto or any other city for that matter.

Saying that , however , I realize that the eventual relocation of the franchise is pretty much an inevitability.

Impossible question, but...

Gun to your head, which team would you rather keep:

Sabres or Bills?

While want the Bills to stay and feel it's a GREAT football city I feel like Hockey and Buffalo go hand in hand even better.

I mean, surely Buffalo will get to keep one, right?

Given the current state of the teams, yes, the Sabres are a better keep. Assuming Ryan Miller stays healthy, of course.

Cripes. That's a tough call , for sure.

However , as Snail Shell alluded to , the Bills are garbage right now & have been for the last decade , so these days , it'd probably be a bit easier for a Buffalo sports fan to say they'd opt for keeping the Sabres in this scenario.

If the Bills were actually good again ( heck , at this point , I'd settle for them simply being relevant ) , then I dunno. Like you said , it's an impossible decision.

For me , though ... if I had to pick one to keep? ... then I guess I'd choose the Sabres. As much as I like me some football , I gotta say that I'm a bigger fan of hockey.

As long as Ralph Wilson is alive, the team stays put... Of course, he's 91... so anything could happen. His family has stated they don't want to keep the team when he passes, so I would assume it goes to the highest bidder... Unless, Ralph has something up his sleeve to keep them in Buffalo... The highest bidder could then move the team...

You can bet the NFL wants to relocate a team, either to Los Angeles (when they finish the stadium) or expand internationally (which the NFL would love to do)... The loyalty of fans in Buffalo matters not to corporate NFL interests, regardless of the stadium selling out even during their 10 year playoff drought... The mass protests in Cleveland didn't mean a thing to the NFL and Art Modell when he moved the Browns to Baltimore. Only through massive support and protest for years did Cleveland get their team expanded back to them in 99'... That won't happen for Buffalo fans if they lose the team, regardless of how loud they yell... The sports media already seems to have a bias against the Bills organization, so they wouldn't help the situation either... All in all, when Wilson passes away, the cards may be stacked against the franchise staying in Buffalo... but the fans have done nothing to warrant losing the team.

I've been a huge fan of the Bills for 23 years and I've never lived anywhere near Buffalo... I just decided they were my team when I was old enough and took interest in the NFL... It would kill me to see the team move and I would protest... The NFL has gotten a lot of money out of me as a fan, from merchandise, going to games and purchasing the Directv NFL Sunday Ticket for the last 13 seasons... They would lose me as a customer and I'd certainly let them know about it, protesting a move of the Buffalo franchise...

Should the Bills move to Toronto..? Or anywhere else for that matter? HELL NO!!!
