The venerable actor and Oscar winning director, Sir Richard Attenborough has died, aged 90.

It is often the case that when someone significant dies, it opens a new audience to their work within their field.
I hope this will be the case here as Attenborough's work certainly spans the decades and the genres.

Performances in 10 Rillington Place, Jurassic Park, Brighton Rock, Miracle on 34th Street, The Great Escape and the direction of Ghandi will stick in my mind.

Fans of Chelsea FC will also have memories!

Robin Williams, Lauren Bacall, James Garner and now Sir Richard Attenborough. It's been a horrible year for legendary actors and actresses

Oh boy, another legend gone. I'm not sure if he counts as third after Robin and Lauren. But nonetheless rest in peace. What a life, what a career.

RIP Dickie

I'll never forgive the Germans for shooting him at the end of Great Escape, it was all Gordon Jackson's fault..

RIP Dickie
