Skyrim Ghost!!!

I was playing Skyrim, walking back to Whiterun from Ustengrav [it was night time], about back to whiterun.

I saw a ghost that I have never saw before. It looked like a house from a ways back, but as I got closer it started to look like a giant Luna Moth.

Then, when I got close enough to it so I thought I might be able to tell what it was, it jumped [and, I mean jumped about 20 or 30 feet high] and landed on a ledge of a cliff, then jumped again, I tried to chase it, but it vanished.

Do any of you Skyrim players know what I saw?

I've played Skyrim quite abit, and there are ghosts in it. If you can, give as much info as you can. I may be able to help.

How far along were you in the storyline?

Could you tell the ghosts species or gender?

What level are you?

I had just got thru with the first part of the "Horn of Windcaller" quest.

like I said, I couldn't get close enough to tell much, just that it was big.

I think I was on level 6 or 7.

I have played Skyrim a lot too [beat it like 5 or 6 times now], but I've never saw a ghost like that before

It's been a while since I played, was it the one that gives you the sidequest with the tomb? Or the little girl who leads you to the vampire in that swamp town I'm forgetting the name of? Those are the only two plot important ghosts I remember, but they're a generic enemy type too.

Oh boy! My first post on here in about a year!

The only free roaming ghost I can think about in Skyrim is Ragnar the Red. That said, he doesn't really fit in with your description.

like I said this was the first time I saw it, maybe because I'm not one to travel much at night.

I saw whatever it was around one of the farms that are just outside Whiterun.

I thought I had saw all Skyrim had to offer, but I guess it still holds a few secrets.

Well maybe you started doing that quest in which you have to kill the Spirit animals in order to get the Amulet of Kyne.
Some old dude living alone with a boy out in the mountains gives you that quest.
At some point you have to kill a spirit Mamoth. That one was pretty damn big.

there are many easter eggs in skyrim. Its hard' to know whether you seen a glitch or a intention on the part of Bethesda's game programer sense of humor. But I wouldn't put it past them to include huge phatom luna moth. i mean the headless horsemen rides around for no reason other then to ride around.
