Snail Mail

The reason i'm wanting to know more about snail mail is because i meet this girl on a forum online and since we have been talking with each other. We seem to get along great me and her. We have been talking with each other through e-mail for about 4 and a half months now. We e-mail each other long e-mails pretty much everyday and night. The longest we have gone with out talking to each other is like 2 whole weeks. And we both seem to get along great and we both love talking to each other and she has send a ton of pictures of her for me to see what she looks like of her mom and baby sister and friends at school. And we have talked about snail before me and her and i would love to send her letters through snail mail. But i have never really used it before at all and I DO NOT I DO NOT want to put myself in harms way or my FAMILY or RELATIVES in harms way either.

Since i still am living with my parents at home. And i'm scared if i do go through with this snail mail thing that something really bad might end up happening.

Because it is the internet after all you know. I'm not about to get sneeked or fooled or tricked into something. That is the last thing that i want to have happen. I want to stay 100% safe if i do end up going through with this.

And the girl that i talk with is very understanding and kind hearted about pretty much everything so she would understand if i wanted to back out. She already told me that.

She is 18 years old (and graduating tommorw (which would be friday today)) and i'm 21 years old. Incase you wanted to know that.

Times have changed alot both online and real life. So i am just wanted your true real opinions on this.

PS. I sent this same thing to another member on this forum but through private message. But i thought i would post it here also to see if anymore of you guys had anymore advice or tips? Just to see what you guys thought about all of this.

Here's my 2 cents...

Personally, I always progress to phone calls before I let someone know my address. You can get a better feeling for a person on the phone. However, if you want to use snail mail, and you're afraid to give out your address you can always get a PO Box, or a box at one of those mail places, like mail boxes etc.

VC.... The thing I did (and still do when I'm planning offline correspondence or purchases to be sent to me) is to set up a personal mailbox. Very few people ever get our home address until we know them a bit in person. I NEVER give it to anyone we aren't absolutely sure of.

As has already been suggested, you can do a PO box or use one of the mail centers like mailboxes etc. It only costs a few bucks a month and gives you a safe/anonymous way to do things. If snail mail is something you truly want to persue, I'd go that route. It's worth the low cost for the security and peace of mind. Good luck!
