The question I put to those who seem to hate Twitter with such a passion is this. Have you ever looked at Twitter to hate it or do you hate the idea of what it might be. I'll admit your mileage may vary, but I follow, oh, a couple dozen people on it and by and large they don't post inanities every minute.
What Twitter actually seems to be is a means for relating sudden thoughts, interesting things you just saw, sometimes with a photo to boot, or a way to say where you'll be later in case anyone wants to hang out. For the most part, a lot of the stuff I see on Twitter are the same sorts of things that begin the threads at forums that people who can't stand "the mindless self-indulgence" of Twitter will gladly indulge in in any other medium.
I'm not screaming sour grapes, just urging a second look at it. While it could be nothing more than a huge conduit for ego driven rambling, there is also a lot of use to be pulled from it.
