The title just about says it all. But even non-soccer fans might be amazed. Two superpowers, one of them host to the World Cup, and completely humiliated in their own homeland. The first 5 goals scored in the first 30 minutes. Probably the most unreal semi-final ever :illogical:crazy:

Wow.....I was not expecting that to happen. I was counting on Germany on beating Brazil, but not by 6 goals. That is an ass-whooping!

Saw a news report on this today. Everyone on Brazil's side looked like they had lost a family member. And one guy destroyed his TV.:wow:

Do you find it bizzarre?

You obvioulsy knows nothing about football mania in Brazil.

In 1950, when they lost the Final with Uruguay, being the hosting Country that time too, there were several suicide and mass suicide in all the Country.

One guy destroing his tv is nothing. After the match and in the following days there have been a lot of riots in big cities as in small town, not only with other Counties'es supporter, but between Brazilian supporters too!

Anyway I found Germans to be offensive.

In European football there is a non-written rules that states: "When you are largely winning, you have NOT to HUMILIATE your opposites, scoring one goal to another every 2 minutes or dribbling all the players in the opposite team twice or three times, just to make them understand that your cock is much more longer than them ones". Germany were... unrespectfull to Brazil.

They do this with young children over here...maybe even up through high school. For college or pro level sports, you would be shot for suggesting holding back a team from crushing another. It's a statement to athleticism for one thing - and for a sport with both offense and defense involved, you have to have balance for a win at this level with this caliber of player.

I would think it would feel even more humiliating if the winning team was obviously being merciful and not playing to win to the best of their abilities towards then end. It used to be, it was honorable to be soundly defeated by a worthy opponent.

But to be spoon-fed mercy, burped, coddled, and sent to the losers crib by the winning team because the losers 'feelings' might be hurt... that's just pussification.

Two things. 1, there is no such rule. At all. Written or unwritten. 2, Matt Hummels, the German defender, said after the match that Germany decided to sit back and defend in the second half and they still scored another two! Germany were not disrespectful they were clinical. If it was england I would have wanted 8 then 9!

This is WORLD football. I've never heard of such a rule. And besides, I'm sure the Germans knew the price of backing down. Brazil nearly won the 1950 World Cup (they were the hosts as well) with their one goal when, during the last 10-15 minutes of the game, Uruguay unexpectedly fired two goals and won. Why did that happen? Because Brazil got overconfident, almost the entire nation was celebrating their heroes' victory. They were convinced they were the winners, so they relaxed.

A team like Germany would never let that happen. And you can't blame them for their victory, it's not their fault that the Brazilians were such a sloppy team this year, not to mention several of their key players absent. They were unprepared to take on a powerhouse team like Germany. And they only got to the semi-finals with a substantial stroke of luck.

What a crock of shit.
