allow me to actually give an answer to the question
Since sex is a natural thing in life, it has been easily accepted to love doing the thing that we have been created to do since the dawn of man and woman. Doggy style though, i dunno about that one, I guess they are just different ways of having sex and so it is accepted. Fetishes however, are completly different from having sex, whether it be walking over someones body in high heels, been tickled or whatever, to the masses this is seen as un pleasureable, it hurts, it tickles and they dont like these sensations like we might. The thought of it been done in a sexual way sickens them, so knowing that someone is involved in something that they themselves hate is unacceptable and looked down upon.
Thats the way things are as a majority, if "joe somebody" hates ticlkling or any other kind of fetish, he puts his personal opinion first, and so he expects everyone around him to also hate it or he will look down upon those who do like what he truly despises. The thing is that he can get away with this ridicule because alot of people also feel the same way and with no one to back the guy/girl with a fetish up, he/she is open to ridicule from all sides. Its kind of like the homosexual society and how they are not accepted, but things are changing, people are starting to accept them because they are everywhere now so its coming to a point where people who ridicule them will get looked down upon (i think it is already like that anyway).
This may eventually happen also with the fetish comunity. I dont know how though, alot of people i know say that (some of ) the acceptance of homosexuality came through media publicity and popular figureheads coming out and standing up for their right which gave many of them the strengh and freedom to come out openly, it took time for the acceptance to kick in but they are getting there. Now if we could do the same for fetishes then the acceptance rate would increase. I personally think they are doing a terrible job of it as of late, you got the whole sleezy stereo typical black leather/satin outfits and stuff been blown in our faces and making it look like a bad thing which gives the fetish comunity as a whole a bad name so when you tell someone you have a fetish, the images they have been fed by the TV come into their 2 dimentional minds. Sad but true!(didnt mean to quote metallica there).
The majority believe what they see on the TV so unless the media doesnt stop portraying the fetish comunity in such a bad way then its gonna remain unaccepted.
I hope thats close to the answer you are looking for.
