Sorry, Mel...

o wow for a brief second there..i thought you meant me lolol

and i agree Knox...

Holy hell so did I...YA gotta be more specific in your thread titles Sir Knox......

:jester:

And, it's not surprising either...given his father's own virulent anti-semitism. By the way, he's also a renowned homophobe.

He just stands exposed, that's all.

The apology seemed sincere to me, and it's better that he made it now rather than have this whole thing drag on. But, and I say this without having seen The Passion, film is a powerful medium, and he might have wanted to meet with Jewish leaders before he released his movie.

His apology was made to try and save the career he just tossed out the window....He now joins the ranks with Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe and some of the other idiots of Hollywood whose works I will not watch..(not even for free).... :Grrr:

People can say anti whatever statements but doesnt make it that. I also dont believe the issue of u become who yer father is cuz i thank God i didnt become the racist Bastich my father was.

I never heard his issues on homosexuality but i would believe he is against it since he believes in christian teachings, which is fine. Just because you disagree doesnt make u afraid or a bad person. Now if he said death to all jews and gays, then yes, that would be a major issue he needs to be fixed for.

Ditto, Ray.

Although his movies (e.g. 'Patriot', 'Ransom', 'Braveheart' etc.) seem to have a comic book quality about them, flat characters, stuff like that. My own boycott wouldn't result in anything I'd be missing.

And, uh, no, Goodie. Wrong. I've spent my whole life fighting the bigotry my parents drilled into me; the resentments and the hatreds. I think I've done pretty well. In due time, you will see yourself just how impressionable children are in general.

It was disappointing to see this, I must say. I thought he was above all this prima donna BS. Now he is just like all of those other idiots who feel like they are above it all.

Well, he was drunk and pissed off... His remarks are probably a reflection of his prejudices against Jews, but he seems to be scrambling for a way to reconcile his remarks. It would seem that being labeled as an Anti-Semite holds more weight than being called a homophobe. It seems odd to me how much more of an uproar there is when someone says something negative about Jews as opposed to saying similar things about any other minority....

Nevertheless, I'm not defending his actions, and the fact that his father is a holocaust denier doesn't make this event that surprising....

/rant on

Y'know, if you really think about it, these jackoffs like Cruise and Gibson get their attitude from us (meaning society in general). We got these people that follow them around, kissing their asses, putting them on pedestals and making them feel like they're above you and me and forget that, in the end, they're just people and not gods. It sickens me to no end every day how, with all the rotten shit going on in this world, you have to see a big spotlight shining on these dipshits on the news. Is it really important for me to know that Paris Hilton is late on her period? Should I feel like I'm not doing enough in the world when it's announced that Angelina Jolie has just adopted Siamese triplets with Irritable Bowel Syndrome? Does it affect the world to know that Tom Cruise has booked himself on 20 other talk shows to convince the world he's not sleeping with John Travolta?

Bottom line is this....people treat these asshats like they're gods among men and it goes right to their heads. I'm betting if the news stopped annoucing every time Tom Hanks went to see a donkey show, these fucktards would stop acting like King Shit and start acting like normal people.

AND QUIT BUYING THOSE DAMN SUPERMARKET TABLOIDS!!!! YOU'RE JUST ENCOURAGING THEM!!!

/rant off

Angelina Jolie just adopted Siamese triplets with Irritable Bowel Syndrome? That's fantastic news! I must fly like the wind to the local Price Chopper to buy many packages of Charmin for the new additions to her already growing family.
I say, we just CAN'T do enough for all our wonderful celebrities.

Ooops.......gotta go.....Madonna is receiving a medal from the president for her new perfume line.

I am so sick and tired of Christians being stereotyped as homophobes. I am a Christian. I'm also bisexual.

Christian teachings say we're to love everyone - no matter what their skin color, religion, or sexual oriantation. Anyone who expresses bigoted beliefs is NOT a Christian. :ranty: A true Christian doesn't give a flying f**k even if you're an athiest asexual alien - you're still a child of God and therefore deserve the respect and love any child of God should get. It's only your actions and personality that will make a true Christian not like you. If you're a pedophile, a drug dealer, a bigot - truly evil people - then we don't like you.

To say that Mel hates homosexuals because he's a Christian is wrong. Mel hates homosexuals because he's a freakin' MORON! He's an untalented loser. And butt ugly to boot. The fact he won't denounce his father's idiotic teachings pretty much was a big clue that he was an anti-Semetic cretin.

I don't know that I agree in the sense that I think any negative remarks or blanket statements about a minority group would stir up a log of outrage. However, if there's truth to what you say, it might be linked to history. - please excuse the grave comments I'm about to make- some people might not want to read further - There's a definite history of Jewish persecution (sometimes in the form of genocide) dating back thousands of years. And just over 60 years ago, the Nazi regime in Germany had made it a priority to eliminate all Jews, doing so in a more systematic way than previous attempts. This resulted in the reduction of the Jewish population by roughly a third, from around 18 million people to around 12 million. So it's my opinion that, sadly, a negative comment pertaining to Jewish people is tied in with a frighteningly dark history of extreme hatred and oppression, whether the person who makes the comment is familiar with that history or not. And it's understandable that those who know this history or have lived it fear that lying underneath the surface of a negative remark is the potential for something much worse.

My remarks are not intended to be caustic. I apologize if they are.

I honestly feel sorry for Gibson. Christ, if I had let my father influence me that much, I'd be wearing a chastity belt.

I feel sorry for Mel's children. They no doubt are turning out to be evil morons just like him. But there's always hope.

It would serve the b*****d right though if one or more of his kids turned out to be gay. (Actually, I read in either Newsweek or Time that the more sons a woman gives birth to, the more likely the younger ones will be gay because the mother's own anti-bodies try to attack the male fetus, having built up a defense against the forein hormones of a male child from the other boys she's carried.) And another married someone who's Jewish. And not out of rebelion but because they're really, trully, passionately in love.

Because God does have a sense of humor.

you are just stating facts that happened throughout history..no need to apologize..everyone knows how the Jews were persecuted and unfortunately hated by some..like Hitler..who is paying even now i hope..

Interesting you say that, because I have 2 brothers, I'm the youngest. Thats a Headscratcher.

Yeah - I wish I could remember if it was Time or Newsweek - but it was a special issue about how our siblings shape who we are and it was in one of their little blurb areas - there was an illistration of 3 flowers, and one was rainbow colored. Next to that it said that scientists have found that male fetuses are seen as invaders to a woman's body therefore her anti-bodies attack it. And just like how once you've had chicken pox, you can't get it again because your body knows how to fight it off, so too does the body recongize a male fetus and fight it.

Of course it's not always true. But then again they've also found out that stress and illness can affect the different "washes" a developing fetus goes through - they've linked the lack of or too much testosterone washes on a male or female fetus to baby then growing up feeling they're the wrong gender.

Basically, yeah, if you're gay, you really were born that way. So people should just shut up and accept you as you are.

To get back on topic - Mel obviously forgot Jesus said "Love thy neighbor." He didn't say "Love only straight Christians and hate everyone else."

I find it amusing how he can be considered anti semetic when he works in a profession that is majority jewish, ud think he would avoid it(and no i am not being blind stereotyper here, that comment came from a group that was interviewed in chicago after mel said he is asking for help from the jewish community and them claiming how odd that is when he works daily in the jewish community)

What i ment though is, the bible and other religions teach that homosexuality is a sin. People dont just hate for no reason, some hate cuz of prior experience, some hate cuz its what is taught to them.

and im sorry, Mad Max was not the work of an untalented loser

Maybe he has no gay or Jewish neighbors :ermm: .

(sorry- just a joke)

Although he does live in the Hollywood area, right :idunno:?

(sorry- an even worse joke)

Nazi's also did genocide Gays as well(jews had the star of david, gays had a pink triangle) The Nazi's also murdered about 8 million other "non war related"civilians, being gypsies, pols and other slavs. It seems to be forgotten that people other than Jewish people were in the camps.
Hositility to Gays exists today and violence exists today against gays, we have a chance to try and stop or prevent it, back then, we didnt. Well, we "did" but the world decided to not untill too late

Sorry to disapoint - but it wasn't God who said that, it was a man - and that same man that put that in there also said it's a Hell-worthy sin to shave your beard or cut your hair.

The Bible has been messed with by every person who's translated it. Heck, God used to be refered to as the Father AND the Mother until a woman-hating monk removed all references to God as a female.

And let's not forget the absence of Adam's first wife, Lilith, from the Christian Bible.

I believe in God, I believe in Jesus, I believe in the basic fundementals of the Bible. (Be a good person for instance.) But I don't believe the Bible is the pure word of God because man loves to mess with things to reflect their own views.

And Mad Max stinks as do all Mel Gibson movies. The man can't act his way out of a wet paper bag.
