Rumor has it that the Kingpin may be the baddie featured in the movie Spider-Man 4. Wouldn't that be an interesting choice? Remember, he was already in the movie Daredevil.

I know the film rights of Daredevil (and Elektra) are in the hands of Fox, but I don't know if that includes the villains. If it doesn't then the Kingpin can easily be a go. He did make his first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #50 after all. He's just gone on to be more associated with Daredevil over time.

Personally, I think Dr. Connors has been waiting patiently thru 3 movies now. Bring on the Lizard! But, I would get a kick out of seeing Michael Clark Duncan reprise the role of the Kingpin and taking on Spidey.

What do my fellow nerds and geeks think?

I would prefer the Lizard but after the last Spider-Man movie I don't know if I want a fouth

Marvel stated when they started spiderman 2 and daredevil and others, that there would be no crossover of chars. The ironman\hulk thing is diff since they are building the avengers movie.

I'll take it over the potential ruination of carnage

In regards to the villain, the producer said the choice will be directly related to New York. Going from that, the most obvious choices would be Kingpin or Kraven (hunting in the urban jungle).

Kraven is from Russia, not New York. Besides that, I just never cared for Kraven. When he blew his own head off, I was like, "Eh."
I never missed him.

I never really cared for Carnage either. He was just a "let's milk the Venom bandwagon" character. When Sentry flew him into space and ripped him in half, I was happy!

Now, the Scorpion? Yeah, I always liked him. Even the Vulture is a classic from Spideys rogues gallery. I could go with either of them.

Personally, my favorite Spidey villain of all time is the original Hobgoblin! But, they dropped the ball, more or less, on bringing him in with that last movie. At least they didn't call Harry the Hobgoblin as I was afraid they would.
I spent too much time trying to figure out his identity when I was a kid...

Another choice for me would be Mysterio

Mysterio friggin' rocks! He's one of my favorites, but I always forget to count him! Seriously, when counting the members of the Sinister Six, I always get to 5 before scratching my head and trying to recall who I forgot. D'Oh!

I'd say Mysterio or rhino. Would love to see him kidnap mary-jane so spidey can kick his ass. I hated that guy in the game.

I agree. S3 was pathetic. How about something along the lines of Batman vs. Predator?

I would also like to see some DC/Marvel crossovers.

Spiderman vs. the Flash

Captain America vs. Iron Man

et al.

Latest rumours I heard were Carnage, Scorpion, Black Cat and Lizard. Kingpin would be good, though I like what they're doing with the new animated series and making Tombstone the head of organized crime. All are good choices, though I don't know how you'll stretch the Lizard into two hours of Spidey fighting an alligator in a lab coat. 😀

They never should have used Venom in the last one in my opinion. They tried to cram too much in and ended up wasting him, they should have used a whole film to develop the Brock / Venom character and make the most out of the fight scenes.

Of the villains that are left I struggle to think who could carry a film on their own.

Scorpion - Would look like a step back compared to Doc Oc. Basically the same visual effect but with one limb instead of many.

Vulture - A bald, old guy in a vulture costume would just be comical.

Kraven - Pants in the comic, would be pants on film unless they really updated the character.

How about using Smythe and the spider slayer robots? That way they could have lots of different action sequences but could also focus on the story of just one villain. If they followed the comics it'd get Jonah more screen time too since he bankrolled Smythe.

I'd say either Lizard or Electro ( Just give him a modern outfit). Or I guess you could bring back Sandman.

like omg? no wayyyzzz

If they have secondary villains, maybe Carrion or Lightmaster? Or maybe Hammerhead or WillOTheWisp?

Actually, I just hope this time around they have a decent script. No dancing. No musical numbers. No cheese lines like, "You're my friend.", "No, Peter. Best friend." or whatever it was. No villains disappearing into the wind to bad harp music.

What? You mean Peter Parker dancing like he had Saturday Night Fever and playing the piano like some sort of idiot savant wasn't great film making? Surely you jest! 😛

I don't care who the villain for the next film is, honestly. As long as it isn't as horrid as Spider-Man 3.
