Okay, this thread and question is for us TMF sports fans, and involves all sports. What one team do you consider your "archrival" team, or, probably better put, the opponent team that you dislike most, and just LOVE to see your team beat?
For me, although I live in Lancaster, PA now, my archrival team, since I have been 14 years old, has always been the New York Mets. As most who know me are aware, I used to live in the NY area until 1999, so the Mets were my local team that I would go watch the Braves play against. Even since I have moved here to PA, and now go watch the Braves in person when they come to Philly, I still havent overcome that Mets- Braves rivalry that I've had in my blood for so many years. For some reason, although I get excited when the Braves come to Philly if I'm at the game, I still get almost like a little kid whenever the Mets and Braves play on TV. Of all the teams Atlanta could ever beat, except maybe if it was in the World Series, and especially if it was the Yankees they beat there. (I dont hate the Yankees, I just want revenge someday for losing to them in the 96 and 99 World Series) I LOVE when the Braves beat the Mets. My satisfaction especially has been such since long time Braves co ace Tom Glavine went to NY to play for the Mets before the 2003 season. I havent cared if the Braves were in last and the Mets in first, such as in the 80s, or vice versa, or when both of them are battling for a playoff spot. The Braves, my favorite team, have just finished the 3 game sweep in Atlanta of the Mets, and is now 12-4 against them for the year, with 3 games left in New York next weekend. (No, Iam not rubbing it in, Mets fans, just merely making a point) I realize that the Braves may and could very well lose in the first round of the playoffs.
So, sports fans, what is your archrival team? Mine is the Mets. Always has been, probably always will be!
