Just watched the grand final, how do those guys do it? absolutley no body armour what so ever, if you get hit in the face with a stray elbow there are no lawyers on hand to secure you a multi million dollar pay off, no blame culture, just hard men playing a hard game, with no quarter given. Barbera Streisand does not sing a vomit inducing song at half time, and the game is not padded out with endless opportunities for fans to be cynically relieved of their money. I cant see this kind of sport catching on state side, unless all the players have their mommy and daddy along to hold their hands.

I just remembered: they play AFL (Australian Football) in the states. Apparently there are about 10 teams, and the US is hoping to have one good enough to play against an Australian team in the next couple of years.

yeah, 4 goal posts at each end. Even if you miss your shot at goal, you still get a point.

The umpires don't point up in the air, but they do point.

Australia plays against Ireland in International Rules Footy, a mix of AFl, soccer and Rugby I think.
