Okay, I'm 3/5 on the year so far and the biggest fight of the last three years is tomorrow:

Nate Diaz vs. Clay Guida
Unless Diaz catches him with something, he'll get out muscled and out hussled. Guida by Decision.

Karo Parisyan vs. Dong Hyun Kim
This will be a great fight, but Karo's just got too much experience. Kim barely survived Matt Brown last time. Parisyan by Decision.

Stephan Bonnar vs. Jon Jones
Bonnar needs this fight to advance his career. He's been out for so long that it's a must-win for him. Jones isn't a slouch though. If Bonnar shows up the way he did against Griffin in the past, he should do okay. Bonnar by Decision.

Lyoto Machida vs. Thiago Silva
Lyoto Machida will win by another 'throw-three-jabs-and-run-away', 15 minute yawn-fest waste of my time Decision. (Machida and Florian bug the HELL out of me for that.)

Georges St. Pierre vs. BJ Penn
The only part of GSP's game I suspect is his chin. He's got everything else. Great standup, conditioning, BJJ and his wrestling is the best at 170, maybe pound-for-pound. BJ has heavy hands and GSP's been KO'd out before. GSP can pin BJ, ground and pound him, and wear him out until BJ gasses (which Sherk SHOULD have done).

That being said, NEITHER fighter has an easy fight ahead of him. GSP's standup is better than Penn's. Getting Penn down is hellacious and then you've got that guard to deal with. The question is who has improved more since Feb '06.

Georges St. Pierre by KO/TKO after the 3rd Round.

This weekened is great we have two great entertaining shows. A awesome mma ppv and a superbowl to watch on sunday. Gunna be spending alot of beer money.

b.j. penn is in really great shape. He has really flexible legs which makes it hard to keep him down. I see b.j. taking the win tonight.

What a hectic week, this day just caught up with the quickness. My thoughts are as follows,

Diaz/Guida
I'm going with Diaz on this one. Those Diaz brothers are slick on the ground.

Parisyan/Kim
Parisyan for sure.Gotta go with the judo guy.

Bonnar/Jones
Bonnar because I don't know much about Jones.

Machida/Silva
I'm taking Machida in this fight.I actually do like Machida's style. It can be lackluster at times but it's something unique and different. With the right matchmaking he could make for some cool fights.

St. Pierre/Penn
I am still undecided even right now. *thinks* I'm taking BJ.

I think BJ has the better chin,is less likely to get subbed but you gotta question his cardio.I can't imagine that he would not train that a lot coming into this fight.I'm interested in seeing GSP's gameplan coming into this as well.

This is as close a fight as you can get and I think BJ is gonna win but I would rather see GSP win.One guy with two belts is a cluster for both divisions. Not only that but the possibility of GSP/Alves, and even more, GSP/Silva are a couple more reasons.

im just going to pick the main fight

i have to go with bj, he has been on fire and st pierre doesnt always show up in big fights. I dont think this one makes it out of the first

BJ Penn wins via TKO 3 minutes into the 1st

wow i couldnt have been more wrong, i really thought penn would dominate but st pierre did. i think the stoppage was unnessecary but unless penn knocked him out or submitted him in the last st pierre would have won anyway. i was really impressed by gsp

gsp outmuscled penn. His brother told the ref to stop the fight. Its better to stop unnecessary damage to penn. b.j. was getting schooled and had nothing left.

4/5! :woot:

Guida won, no question.
I'm glad Parisyan won and got his career back together, but had I been a judge, I would have said 29-28 for Kim. Oh well.
Jones destroyed Bonnar, even though he gassed after two rounds. That guy's going to give a lot of people problems at 205.

The main events:

Machida wrecked Silva, mostly due to Silva's chin giving out. At least it wasn't boring.

And GSP. Wow. Just...wow. Did I mention the 'wow'? Nobody, at any point, ever, has dominated BJ Penn that completely. Ever. BJ is one of the best BJJ fighters in the world and GSP passed his guard over and over again like it was nothing. I thought this would be a really tight fight and GSP showed just how much he's improved over the rest of the 10 division.

BJ Penn, I'm looking forward to the title shot against Kenny Florian. I hope Penn wins. Moreover, I hope this loss doesn't destroy Penn mentally like the first fight with Jens Pulver. Solid training and a good game plan will go through Kenny Florian.

GSP, a solid game plan and a good takedown against Thiago Alves will get him the win. My question is, if Thiago Alves can't stop GSP, who can?

O.O

After watching the fight last night... to answer your question... in his weight class... a fighter driving a truck... no a big truck.... that also moves fast so they can keep driving to the rain Forest in case that did not work.

My friends and I sat in shock in how easily GSP dominated Penn. When discussing it with my friends they proposed a question did the extra weight Penn added hurt him that much or is GSP really that good. I went with the latter. I am sure the extra weight hindered Penn but not to the point that he was dominated.

I heard that man. I thought GSP would win, but I never thought it would be that one-sided.

The extra weight may have slowed down Penn a bit, but he's fought at 170 before and not had a problem. GSP really is that good.

The next in line after Thiago Alves would be who? Koschek maybe? He's already gotten destroyed by GSP once. Which means...up a weight class, maybe?

GSP vs. Anderson Silva??? :yowzer:

Totally.

GSP just ran right through BJ.Unbelievable performance. At this point I would put GSP above Anderson in terms of P4P.Both of them are blowing through everyone but GSP is defeating much tougher competition.

Machida looked good and I would like to see him fight for the title. Two undefeated guys in a title match would make for a good fight. At the same time I would like to see him fight Rampage.

I went 2/5 on this one. :cool2:

I'm thinking about checking out UFC 97 in Montreal. That would be cool.

This event was a bit disappointing. 8 decisions, only 2 TKOs and no submission.
