Stalkers? Yes? No? Maybe?

Somehow, we got on a tangent about the internet and stalking over in a totally unrelated thread, and it got me to thinking:

Has anyone aboard, of either sex, been the subject of attentions(of someone that you met through either or both of the big tickle-fetish boards) that just went too far/too weird/too obsessive?

Sux to even think about, but it has probably happened more than afew times, I'm guessing. Does anyone know of someone who left these sorts of groups due to that sort of behavior? I'm not talking about the usual verbal give-and-take that these sorts of anonymous boards foster, but genuinely invasive badgering of a sexual nature by someone whom you met online?

As a for-instance: When I first crawled onto the Web afew years ago, I didn't even know what "flaming" meant in Net-parlance. When I did a search, one of the top items that came up was the case of some total dirtbag named Terry, who apparently lured some male college students into doing some filmed bondage tickling sessions, and then apparently tried to blackmail them and ruin their reputations. Yes. An incident from our own drama-prone community was one of the top results for the term "flaming". Not good, friends.

So, are there more horror-stories I don't know about?

I'm not sure if I can say that anyone here's ever stalked me, even in the sense of cyber-stalking, but some have come mighty close. For now, I write them off as simply painfully annoying.

Well, good. And by that I mean that, given that you are a rather prominent member, and have been for awhile, and given that there seems to be a large contingent of men who dig the(forgive the generalization, I do NOT mean to categorize, and apologize if it comes off sounding that way) suicide girl-look that you seem to have in the photos I've seen.
Whew, that was a mouthful of disclaimer right there.

It's just good to know, that's all. Not about the annoying ones. The lack of totally wackadoo nutcases, I mean.

That's awful, isabeau, and I'm sorry to hear that it HAS indeed happened to someone here. 🙁

well when you make yourself so public it's bound to happen i suppose..but it was not only here..the only place i wasn't stalked was on myspace..hmm

That's odd. I thought that MySpace and Facebook were supposed to be like, stalker-central or something...

Actually a recent study in the New York Times (January 14th's paper) showed the result of a study done by a large group of investigators and they found out that the internet isn't as full of creepy bastards as once thought. Now while I agree that saying the internet is THAT dangerous is bad on a daily basis, I think it's okay to think it CAN become that bad in certain situations.

Now for the stalking......
*follows everyone in this thread* >.>
lol jk

I've actually had a real life stalker, oh the fun that was lol XD
 she wanted my kidneys.......(not really sure if she did, but I helped overcome the weirdness by using this joke XD)

Ignore button... keeping the creeps at bay since 1990.

Too bad we can't slam a big ol' IGNORE on people in RL, eh?

I got hired as a stalker once but couldn't keep the job since I would always end up showing my donuts to the stalkee and they'd come over to eat donuts. Conversations always went like this...

"So, why are you standing on the sidewalk outside of my house with donuts?"

"Oh, I'm a stalker. Some guy hired me to stalk you."

"Really? How's that going?"

"Not that well. I mean, after all I'm supposed to stay just at the edge of your peripheral vision and creep you out when you go to bed by calling you on the phone and breathing really heavy. Instead, we're eating donuts. Hey, want a long john?"

I wish I had someone with that kinda devotion to me...

then again...even saying hello would be a God Send.

Mildly funny, mildly un-p.c. toon:

it's funny how guys like being stalked
OR RAPED HA HA

o not true...it's as harrassing for a man as it is for a woman..being stalked is never fun..no matter what gender you happen to be..and it can turn out quite deadly..i doubt a guy would think that's fun..

At FIRST it may seem kinda cool; "Hey, cool. This chick really digs me!" but, depending on how fast it goes, it can sometimes get to the creepy stage pretty quick. And both movies and real life events have demonstraited that female stalkers can be just as psycoticly possesive as their male counterparts. Case in point being the Astronaut lady with the diaper, who's name I can't recall for the life of me. If I remember right, didn't she go after the wife of her wannabe boyfriend, or something like that?

I think most guys (atleast they like to think so) can generally take care of themselves. But putting thier friends and loved ones at risk especially is another story....

*raises hand* same here...

Her name is Lisa Nowak; story here.

Yeah, Clint Eastwood in 1971 when he's not being Dirty Harry (not that there's anything wrong with that!).

Yeah.. I've had some overly-obsessive friends online.

Actually... I met a guy on another site a few months ago and he lives nearby. He told me he had a foot fetish and we talked a little before he asked me to meet him. Well, that's a big no-no for me. I have some serious rules for meeting people. Since he asked me, he asks me in every single message he sends me and details what he wants to do. Of course I tell him no. I'm very close to just quitting that site. *sigh* Thank God he knows nothing about me.

In real life I had a female friend who I was very close with. One day she told me that she was bi-sexual. Ok. I was fine with that.

Well, I started getting emails telling me that a friend had a crush on me and gave me clues as to who it was. I couldn't figure it out. I now know it was her.
She caught me in class and we went to the back of the room and she said "Lexie, I'm in love with you." Of course I was shocked. I just hugged her and said that we would talk later.
She wrote me poems and love letters and was very very protective of me- to the point of threatening others. She told me she had sexual fantasies about me and stuff like that.
I wouldn't call it stalking... just very creepy. Very creepy.

~*~*~*~

Once I was at a diner with my family. I wasn't feeling well so I just sat there with my 7-up and my jacket wrapped around me. Two people came in I thought it was a boy and a girl but it was actually two girls. They sat at the bar katty-corner to the booth I was in. They kissed and ordered and the short haired girl (who looked like a guy) looked at me and smiled. I smiled back because I figured she might have known me from highschool (since I was friends with many kinds of people). I was curious as to who she was so I'd look up at her and try to figure it out every now and then; and everytime I looked up, she was grinning at me. Then she took her camera-phone out and pointed it at me- I could see myself in the view finder as she took the picture. She looked at it and kissed the other girl. She never talked to me... just smiled.

I guess none are really stalking, those are my creepy stories though.
