Well the casting has finally been released for Star Wars episode 7. Besides the originals Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker and Peter Mayhew. The biggest name to come out from the new casting is Andy Serkis, who did both Gollum from LOTR and Caeser from Rise of the Planet of the Apes to name a few. The other ones, are fairly new. John Boyega, best known from the Sci-Fi film Attack the Block, from what I'm hearing he is Lando's son. Adam Driver, best known on the show "Girls" is supposed to play the villain. Oscar Isaac who has been in a lot of action movies. Domhnall Gleeson is best known from Harry Potter. Daisy Ridley is a newer actress, who seems to be Han and Leia's daughter. That's just an assumption, but it makes sense, especially with her sitting between Ford and Fisher. And finally Max von Sydow, has a very long resume, best known from the movie "The Exorcist". Also in Flash Gordon, Conan the Barbarian, Rush Hour 3, Shutter Island to name a few others. Overall really like the casting, now just wondering who there characters will be.

I'm going to miss the singular visionary wunderkind and thralling scriptwriting genius that is the goiter god, George Lucas. ... ...

...just kidding. But big kudos to the thousands of REAL passionate creative and technological talents that made the Star Wars franchise so much fun to watch over the decades IN SPITE of George Lucas' insipid attempts to fuck everything up... right from the beginning. A VERY SPECIAL thanks to original Star Wars illustrator Ralph McQuarrie who's creative imagination is actually where it all began, and it was his concept paintings that sold the studio execs on Lucas' first puerile script about a space boy and his dog. Yes.... a fuckin' dog. Chewbaca was supposed to be a dog. Thank you Derp Lucas, please fade away now.

Good luck to Disney, I hope they can breathe renewed interest and recapture the wonder of the Original. ...as long as they keep Uncle George off the lot.

I feel better about this.

My biggest fear was to stumble across some interview with Zac Effron and Selena Gomez article about this with the quote: "we're just happy to be working again."

Supposedly there is another major role that hasn't been revealed yet for a female lead. I'll keep you posted when I hear more.

Mark Hamil is gonna be there? I thought he retired. Anyway he left more of an impression in me as the voice actor of the Joker, than as Luke Skywalker. My favorite actor from the original cast was Earl Jones as Darth Vader. That was one hell of a performance. Among other things, thanks to his voice acting, Vader's among my favorite villains of all times.

It's been quite a long wait. 😱

They are supposed to be doing Episodes 7,8 and 9 from what I understand.

When it was originally announced that there would eventually be 9 films, back in the late 1970's, my father predicted that he would not live to see all nine. He was correct; he died in 1997 before even the prequel trilogy was released (1999, 2002, 2005).

I suppose I should be glad that I will likely live to see episodes 7, 8, and 9. 😛

Overall I'm pleased that they have decided to go with mostly little-known actors. Unlike many others, I love the Hobbit movies, but I have to admit it is a little distracting when you're looking at Bilbo, Bofur and the Master of Laketown, and all you can really see and hear is Martin Freeman, James Nesbitt and Stephen Fry, respectively. Casting relative unknowns (i.e. not Samuel L. Jackson and Christopher Lee, to name but two) should hopefully make for a fresher, more believable universe in the new series.

As was the case with Harrison, Mark and Carrie...when the original was released!!! I know Harrison had done some "small stuff" before...but who remembers much of what he did, other than "American Graffiti"?? If I recall, Mark and Carrie were barely 20 or 21!!!

As its disney, there will surely have to be some anoying bastard comedy sidekick cuddly character for merchandize..

A friend of mine wants them to bring back jar jar and kill him off in the first scene..

I know uncle George gets a lot of stick

Jar Jar
Greedo shoots first etc
How shite the prequels were..

But I really liked THX1138, any other fans of that film?

George won't have the much of a hand in it as he is basically retired and given ownership of Lucasfilm to Kathleen Kennedy. Also Abrams and the writers have free reign now that there is no EU. Happy Star Wars Day! May the 4th be with you!

Only when I have insomnia. That film will put me to sleep ten times faster than Kubrick's 2001. THX1138 made Logan's run look like a masterpiece.

I like Logan's run too!

You can't beat a bit of hokey 70's sci fi 🙂

If you like hokey, you can't beat Gene Roddenberry's 1974 Planet Earth. yeeeeesh Its the movie version of the abysmal TV pilot Genesis II.

Two new actresses have been cast for Star Wars. Just announced yesterday, Lupita Nyong'o who is an academy award winning actress and Gwendoline Christie, best known on Game of Thrones as Brienne of Tarth. Both fantastic actors, to join an already amazing cast.

Also a bunch of pics from the set have been released, of course it's TMZ at the forefront again. Anyways here's all the info on everything.
