Statistical Ticklishness???

Hey guys.
I have a very serious question to ask that I feel is of significance to many, many people on this forum.
What are the statistics of ticklishness in human beings? What percentage of people in general are ticklish? What percentage of ticklishness is there of men versus women? What percentage of females (this is my specific interest) have TICKLISH FEET?

I can only go by the one part that i know of. women with very ticklish feet are a tiny percentage! id say maybe between 10 and 15 percent at best.

I've seen several internet surveys asking "are you ticklish" over the years, and it seems about 92-93% of the respondents answered yes. I also posted a similar poll question two years ago at a leading internet weather forum....and of the 100+ who participated, exactly 92% voted YES they were ticklish.

Maybe I've just been lucky, but most of the women I know/ have dated possessed very ticklish feet; my mom, all three sisters, girlfriends, nieces, female co-workers, aunts, cousins, female friends, friends of my sisters, etc; I'd estimate 90-95% of them were ticklish on their feet.....and at least 75% I would rate as very or extremely ticklish.

Well let's see...

In response to your question I'll enlighten you with memories of the girls that I have tickled recently.

Amy - On a scale of one to ten, Amy was an 8.5 - 9.0. She was very ticklish on her feet but unfortunately that was the one spot where she didn't like being tickled. However, she would entertain me with stories about how pedicures and foot massages would make her go into hysterics. So i would say overall she was am 8.5-9 but on her feet she was a 10. Her armpits were a 9.5 and her sides/stomach/ribs were only a 4 or 5.

Mindy - Mindy wasn't too ticklish. I'd say maybe a 4 on a ten point scale. Her most ticklish spot was her feet (about a 7). She would laugh when tickled there and would try to pull away...ok, maybe she was more like an 8 or 9 on her feet. However, her armpits, stomach, sides, or ribs were not very ticklish at all. The only other ticklish spot on her was her breasts. The sides and bottoms of her breasts were about a 7.5.

Lauren - Lauren was very ticklish. She was without a doubt one of the most ticklish girls that I've tickled. She was a definitely a ten. Any amount of stimulation to her stomach, sides, ribs, and underarms would send her into a laughing frenzy. Her feet were also very ticklish. She was a ten in all over. I did notice that she would laugh and try to squirm away from tickling on her sides, stomach, armpits, and ribs, but when I tickled her feet she would just collapse into hysterical laughter. Lauren was also the most attractive girl that I've tickled in a while.

Jean - Jean was also a ten. Maybe even a bit more ticklish than Lauren. I'm not sure what part of her body was the most ticklish.

Paula - Paula was another ten. I've been very lucky lately! She was ticklish all over. Her most ticklish spot was her armpits followed by her sides/stomach/ribs. Her feet were ticklish, just not quite as ticklish as her other ticklish spots. I'd say her armpits were an 11, her midsection was a 10, and her feet were a 9. Her breast were also ticklish...about an 7. Paula was also a very attractive girl.

Candice - Overall about a 6. Her feet were about a 7, her breasts were about an 8 and the rest of her body wasn't too ticklish, maybe a 5.

Melissa - Rather ticklish although not as ticklish as Lauren or Paula. Overall about a 9. I'd say her most ticklish spot was her sides/stomach area followed by her armpits followed by her feet.

Jane - Very ticklish. Almost a 10. Her feet were definitely a ten, her stomach/sides and armpits were about a 9. Even though she was really really ticklish she was a great tickler.

Valerie - Valerie was a very cute girl and very ticklish. Her armpits were without a doubt her most ticklish spot followed by her feet. Her armpits were an 11, her feet a 9.5 and her sides/stomach/ribs were about a 7. Her breasts were not ticklish at all.

So about statistics...well it's kinda late where I am so I'm about to go to bed. Perhaps tomorrow I'll look at the data that I've posted and crunch some numbers.

Every single one of them has had ticklish feet, although with about 1 of every 10 their feet were only ticklish in the aftermath of an orgasm.

I've never seen a truly broadly based study on the subject, but I'm sure my experiences do not agree with statistics for the general population.

That amazes me because ive tickled about 50 or 60 pairs of feet in my time and have found almost all of them were average or below average in ticklishness. maybe about 7 or 8 were above average or extremely ticklish. i cant possibly believe that im that unlucky. i truly think women with extremely ticklish feet are very rare.

Of the women I've personally known, or heard about ticklishness of, in my life, I would say 98% of them were/are ticklish on their feet. I am not talking about TMF girls I have talked to, but more so real life women that I've either tickled, or seen get tickled.

My Grandmother-ticklish feet, my grandfather tickled her feet once, and she went nuts, and said she had very ticklish feet.

My mom-I saw my father tickle her feet once. Also, she laughed pretty hard.

My two aunts- I tickled both of them in my puberty years. Both had ticklish feet, one extremely so.

A friend in college, Lora, I tickled her feet during a massage, very ticklish on her feet.

Another friend in college, Stacy. I once tickled her feet, and saw her boyfriend do it to her once as well, very ticklish feet.

The two that were not ticklish on their feet at all.

My ex girlfriend, Jenny, whom I posted about on here before. Tried for over 2 years that we were together, Her feet were not ticklish, not one bit.

My best friend's sister, who is now 41, and married. He told me through the years growing up that he tried tickling her feet, and she had no reaction. I saw her husband try, before they got married, nothing.

I should also mention that although I didnt see it, since they were women I know personally, I will include it, my best friend's mom and aunt both have very ticklish feet. He told me that he tickled his mom's feet, and she went nuts, and saw his aunt get tickled by her husband, also very ticklish feet on her.

So, that's it, every woman I've known or heard of, except my ex girlfriend, and best friend's sister, had or has ticklish feet, so, for me, 98% of the people I've either known in real life, or that I can recall being tickled, or heard first hand from realiable sources about tickling experiences, have ticklish feet.

About 13 years ago I personally spoke with Christine Harris about her tickling research. (C. Harris is the person who did research on tickling and laughing at U.C.S.D.) I'm 99% sure she said that the most ticklish spot on the body was under the arms. The second most ticklish spot was sides/ribs and the feet were the third most ticklish spot.

Not here in the deep south. I've tickled the feet of dozens of women/ girls over the past 36 years, and so far have only found two who weren't ticklish enough to get a big reaction when tickled on their feet (and one of those two was a girl from New Jersey....she wasn't born in the southeast).

I'm not sure if it's something in the water down here.....or because women go barefoot all the time....or what, but girls "down south" definitely tend to be more ticklish from heels to toes (for which I'm extremely grateful 🙂

OK, I did some number crunching and

here are the results. Of the nine girls that I tickled recently, here are the relative ticklishness of their feet, sides/ribs/stomach, and feet:

Feet: 9.2
Sides/ribs: 7.5
Armpits: 8.5

I am actually quite surprised by these results as I would have suspected that underarms would have been the most ticklish place. Perhaps I thought this because two of the girls were EXTREMELY ticklish on their underarms. Both liked to play tickling games and would frequently initiate tickle fights but they both said that their armpits were "offlimits".

I realize that these results include the ticklishness of only nine girls. I'm thinking that if I tallyed the results of 100 girls the results would perhaps be a bit different.

That's all for now. I'd be interested to see other's results.

Have you any idea if her study can be found online anywhere?
I would love to see her methodology, statistical distribution of participants, numbers involved, and when she mentioned most, second most and third most ticklish places, was she referring to how many were ticklish there or how ticklish they were in one place relative to another place on the same person?

This might be a good time to point out that any accurate statistical estimation requires a representative, preferably large, sample of the population. As Mastertank rightly pointed out, "women who I have tickled" does not qualify as a representative, randomly selected sample (although he does have some ability to claim "large" 😀 ).

I think we're also looking at a lack of standardization in measurement. Some people are basing their estimates on self-report data (i.e. Are you ticklish? Yes or no?), which is subject to response bias (people who fill out the survey are more likely to be ticklish than people who don't bother), degree of self-knowledge, and honesty. Others are basing their "data" on actual tickling, and in that case... the response you get depends a lot on how you do it. Not trying to offend, I'm just saying... 😛
