Hello everyone and to TickleTheater...
TT, I am still having difficulty in viewing the attached thumbnails.
Were you able to review the threads d/l from the www. vbullitin.com site?

I am a member of three other communities that use the vbullitin system and have no problem accessing the presented thumbnails there.

I think my access to the thumbnails are still being restricted by some glitch in the user cp format. I did the reboot/restart/FFcleanout as discussed before and still I cannot view one thumbnail under Firefox and under IE--only gray little rectangles appear.

The moderator at v.bullitin com stated to review the case again with you.

Thanks so much. I look forward to viewing the wonder-pics of all of those who contribute!

Respectfully,

The FoeHammer

Interesting. This has happened before, but before it was due to members not being fully registered. I know you are, which is what puzzles me. Is there any way you can take a screen shot and show me what you see? If you don't know how to do this, I can attempt to explain it.

Re: Forum Issue - Problems with Attached Pics...

Thank you very much for your response, HDS...

Attached is a screen capture of the issue at hand...

Browser: FireFox 2.0
Win XP Pro
No changes in security settings...

Awaiting your reply....

Thanks again.

It might, although this is a long shot, be a problem with Java. Can you go to http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp and click the "Verify Installation" button to see what version you have? If it is anything other than the latest (And it will tell you if it is the latest), you may need to update Java.

By any chance do you have or use the Opera browser? If you were to try that and the same issue was present, then it could be established with certainty that something external to the browser is blocking thumbnails.

HDS: Attached is the screen capture of the Java verification.
I do not use Opera nor ever have.

Peformed functions as per Mozilla, but....

Thank you for the website, M. Valerie...

• Run your browser through this diagnostic to test for the most common configuration problems, such not having "Load Images" or "Enable JavaScript" checked in your Firefox Options (both should be checked by default).
The above was performed - no configuration problems noted. JavaScript is enabled

• Hold down the <Shift> key and click the Reload button to force a fresh reload of the page. This action was performed. Attached thumbnails cannot be viewed.

• If you are using anything to block ads (e.g Adblock, a hosts file, or security software), disable it. If you use ZoneAlarm Pro or eTrust Firewall, see the Security software section below. Adblock is disabled. I do use ZA. As per instructions listed, ZA has been optimized for images. Attached thumbnails cannot be viewed.

• Clear your cache and cookies in Firefox "Tools -> Options -> Privacy" (under "Cache" and "Cookies" ) or in Mozilla Suite preferences (under "Advanced -> Cache" and "Privacy & Security -> Cookies -> Cookie Manager"). Cache & Cookies in FF have been cleared. Attached thumbnails cannot be viewed.

Summary: I have compeleted the above steps without resolution to the issue. I have again revisited WatchUSeek and The Fountain Pen Network (both vbullitin systems) with the above instructions followed and my default system - all attached thumbnails are viewable and downloadable.

Any further assistance would be of great help.

Thanks again.

Hmm ... tell me, would you be willing to PM me with your account password so I can log and and see if it is something tied to your account? I can try logging in as you and viewing a thread with picture attachments and, if they do not show up, something will be known to be wrong with your account, something that we can then find in the Admin CP somewhere.

I apologize for all the time this is taking (I know it must be frustrating), but your's is a peculiar issue.

Okay. I was able to log in and see attachment images (Specifically the thumbnails in the thread you viewed in the first screen shot you attached.). As such, something is up on your end with certainty. As it affects IE and Firefox, I must ask if you about other running programs. Tell me, what programs do you have running when you are accessing the TickleTheater with either Firefox or IE? For instance, I see a Snapfiles add-on in Firefox. Is that in both FF and IE? For another instance, what is present in your system tray as you access the internet? I speak of firewalls and antivirus programs, antispyware programs, weather-getting programs, mail reader, and anything else. Once a list is made, we can try killing them one at a time to see if one is somehow blocking thumbnails from here. I don't quite understand how, but I do know it is something on your machine.

The only other thing I can suggest at the moment is to completely uninstall Firefox, clearing all settings and extensions, and then reinstall a clean version, adding nothing to it and leaving all settings at the default (Importing nothing from IE also). That might clear whatever is in FF if, for instance, a plug-in affects FF and IE in this case.

Success!!!

To HDS: You are truly *divine*!

Thank you for your diligence in this matter. I needed to deactivate the Ad-blocking feature of ZoneAlarm - completely!!!

Now I see all the wonders....

Thanks again...

I'm glad you were able to solve it. 🙂 Sort of makes sense now that I have the cause. HDS will keep this in mind should such a problem pop up again.

You learn something new every day, aye.
