suggestions for new profile fields for the forum?

With this new version of the forum we can add customized profile fields, and I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions. I was thinking we could have a "ler, lee, or both" and another one for "ticklish spots"

Any other ideas?

You had better make that a BIG space. I'm talking a 500 character limit. And even that's cutting it close.

A few suggestions...

Gender
Relationship status
Favorite target spot
"In A Word" (an option that lets each user choose one word to describe themselves...."boisterous", "Hyper", "Silly", "Crazy", "Mellow", etc)
Birthday (month and day)

Gender speaks for itself, as does favorite target spot. In a word would just be a little something fun. Relationship status could come in handy for those who are single and seeking a potential partner, or if someone is married but seeking a platonic playmate, or someone could even specify single and NOT looking to keep hounds at bay. Birthdays would be fun to share so folks on the forum can wish them a happy birthday when the day rolls around.

Of course all of these would be optional. No one would be required or even expected to fill in ANY field if they did not want to. All would be completely volunteer.

Gender and birthday are already options with the new forum, and there's even a way to make the forum show whos birthday it is today, although I havent figured that one out yet.

Hi Jeff,

Great job on the new site. The one thing I miss (maybe it's still there but I can not find it) is the field that told me if any of the member of my buddy list were online or not. It used to be right next to the Private Message area.

These are all good suggestions. 🙂 Something that lets someone at least specify if they're looking either for 'play partners' or, more likely, people to chat with might be something to consider. I've found, as a female, that my posts often prompt random people to pm me asking me stuff I don't always want to answer, lol! I finally decided to disable my pm box, as I come to this forum only to read and respond to posts, not be pm'ed by strangers, but it would have been nice to leave my box open so at least my friends can message me. And I don't know how to ask people not to pm me nicely in my sig. 🙂 I suppose "If I don't know you, leave me the hell alone!" *might* work... 😀

Is there a way to set things so that you get a notice if you try to send a PM to someone who has them turned off? I know we can set our own PM status to on or off. But, for anyone trying to send them to us, they didn't have any way of knowing that status. It would appear to go through even if the recipient had them turned off. Just a thought while things are being tweaked.

I also like the ideas posted above. I can't think of anything else to add at the moment.

You would have to allow probably a (no more than 50 character field) relatively significant yet brief space allowance. 3 to 50?

Oh yeah, I wouldn't want people who tried to message me think I'm just not reading messages or something and have the poor things send message after message. 🙂 A pop-up that states that so-and-so has their PMs turned off at least would be good, I guess.

I don't think there's any way to do that unfortunately. Just one of the shortcomings of the forum. If you try to email someone you get a message that they aren't accepting emails when in fact it's just a disabled option. Just bad design.

Hmmmm. Then, perhaps another item on the profile could be "accepts PMs" with a yes or no to check so we can let folks know that way? It might solve the issue for those who bother to check the profile.

How about adding the member's picture into the profile...

...So that the person looking at the profile doesn't have to go to another forum. Now if that isn't possible, how about a click-on link to the person's picture.
