I am hoping to hell they're not going to go with the dark hero approach to this one as WB mentioned they wanted a somewhat darker tone with Superman. Hell no! This is FUCKING SUPERMAN! NOT BATMAN, DEFINITELY NOT SPAWN, AND MOST DEFINITELY NOT THE BLOODY MATRIX! Superman represented all the iconic hopes and ideals of our greatest heroes! He should not be some morbid black caped emo goth punk winning about his own existence while saving the world reluctantly from Lex Luthor.

Speaking of Lex, does anyone know if he's in this one? If so, is it the same actor? Hope so. That guy was awesome. I personally was hoping for Lex to make a giant robot Metallo and set him loose on Sup's home town and Sup's and Metallo would duke it out over an interstate freeway and over the crops. Maybe Brainiac will be in this one? Think they'll make Brainiac the A.I. intelligence for the planet Krypton only it wanted to be free and thus overloaded Krypton's crystal based geothermal energy processors in order to destroy Krypton, escape, and now it's going to try and either recruit Sups or destroy him and the Earth?

Or maybe we'll see Doomsday and Sups duke it out in Metropolis after Luthor unleashes Doomsday on Sups after growing him from a bit of Sups DNA.

I totally agree on the emo punk Superman. Nobody understands the hell that is Superman's life. He can fly, juggle the Earth, has X-Ray vision and all that other cool shit, but does anyone understand his... heart. I'll puke if see that storyline any more. I wanna see him blow shit up. That is Superman!

When the WB means darker tone, they don't mean darken him. Superman has always been the light in the darkness. They mean they're going to darken the movie itself. Make it more realistic. Kind of like they did in Superman Returns. Everyone is under the impression that everyone loves him except the people who are evil. This is far from the truth. Plus with the exception of Superman Returns, there wasn't a lot of death. Not that I want to see a death filled Superman movie, but though he may be faster than the speed of light. He can't be everywhere at once, in the comics even though he saved the day, depending on the crisis, there as always a death toll. But anyway, that's what they mean. The overall movie. It's impossible to darken the character Superman, unless he is under the influence of red Kryptonite. So don't despair. As far as a story line goes. I have no idea what they are going to come up with. What I hope that they do is a fast forward montage through his early years. We honestly don't need to see that again. I mean there's the first Superman movie, then there's The Chris Reeve Superman movie, there's Smalleville, and there's the animated movie. I think it's safe to say that his origin is covered. Now if they made a movie entitled Krypton, which covers the events leading up to the destruction. That I would go see.

I like your Braniac idea Rox. I heard he might be the villain in the new movie. But I like that you mentioned a Braniac from Krypton. I don't know if you're familiar, but the animated series made it where Braniac was from Krypton and was ultimately the cause of why no one believed Jor-El when he stated the planet would explode. Braniac downloaded himself into a escape pod type deal and made it out before the explosion. Finding refuge on other planets, taking their knowledge and destroying them eventually making it to earth where Superman found out what happened. Boy was he pissed. I would honestly like to see that in live action, even though it's already been done. Anyway. I'm rambling now. Sorry. I'm an avid comic reader. More of a DC fan than Marvel. But when it comes to Superheroes, I know 'em.

The OP isn't talking abiout the Smallville TV series, she's talking about some future Superman movie that was talked about last year but is now in limbo ... perhaps for years to come. :sleep

Its waaaaaaaaay past time that Superman gets to actually FIGHT a bad guy. He needs to have a big bare knuckle brawl against someone who can go toe to toe with him. Leave Lex Luthor in jail for a movie already! Bring out Doomsday or Bizarro or Brainiac...ANYTHING other than Lex Luthor!
