ATLANTA (AP) -- Terrell Owens was spitting mad, and he made the Atlanta Falcons pay in a big way.

Owens hauled in a couple of touchdown passes, leading the Dallas Cowboys to a playoff-bolstering 38-28 victory over Atlanta and getting back at Falcons nemesis DeAngelo Hall along the way Saturday night.

But, T.O. being T.O., there had to be some controversy, too.

Afterward, Hall said that Owens spit in his face when the Falcons' cornerback came out jawing on the very first play.

"I lost all respect for the guy," Hall said. "We were kind of walking face to face, walking back to the huddle, and he just hauled off and spit in my face."

It was that kind of night for the Falcons. While Michael Vick and Morten Andersen set NFL records, their team took a devastating loss in NFC wild-card race after two straight wins and overcoming an early 14-0 deficit to the Cowboys.

Dallas (9-5) bounced back from a 42-17 home loss to New Orleans and protected its NFC East lead.

"It was as big a game as we've had this year," quarterback Tony Romo said. "I think we are trailing everybody when it comes to tiebreakers. We knew the importance of this one coming in."

Marion Barber clinched it for the Cowboys, scoring on two punishing runs after the Falcons went ahead.

Owens, who was kept out of the end zone by Hall when the two faced off in Week 1 of the 2005 season, took care of that blemish. Owens made a 7-yard touchdown reception with a brilliant one-handed catch, then blew past Hall to haul in a 51-yarder.

T.O. toasted both scores with the same gesture. He faced the crowd with his arms outstretched -- that's the `T' -- then clasped his hands in a circle above his head -- that's an `O.'

But what about spitting at Hall?

"I got frustrated and I apologize for that," Owens told the NFL Network. "It was a situation where he kept bugging me and getting in my face. He just kept getting in my face."

And now he justifies by saying he was in my face. That is such bullshit. You know spitting at someone is assault. I hope he charges him. :sowrong: :ranty: :ranty: :ranty:

That, to me, is worse than getting punched in the face. I hope Hall decked him in the runway

is it just me, or does Terrell Owens WANT to get banned for life? to all the people who think this guy is misunderstood, take a look at this latest example of a complete moron.

TO was frustrated because he was talking shit in his face? oh get real, like no one has ever talked shit to him before. this guy is just bad news. and to think, some people actually felt sorry for TO when he had his "overdose" problem and they blamed the media. well, is it the media's fault now? this guy is a loser, will always be a loser and i hope even the diehard Cowboy fans finally acknowledge this fact.

to think, when Tony Romo showed up, all TO had to do was close his mouth. he was doing well on the field, he just needed to keep his mouth shut. well, so much for that plan. i hope he gets suspended for the rest of the year.

Being a die-hard Cowboys fan, I say that T.O. is a pimple on the face of a great young team.

T.O. shouldn't have spit on D. Hall but he only deserves a fine, if anything. I say if anything because of something I heard Deion Sanders say. There's apparently no tape of this incident and it didn't cause the game to be delayed in any way so there is a possibility he won't get any punishment. If he gets fined it'll be deserved, but if he gets suspended for any amount of time it's BS. I don't think he'll get suspended and I think the only reason the talk of suspension was ever brought up is because he is T.O. People are making this into something bigger than it really is, but this is nothing new. I'm glad Dallas won and I'm feeling good about their situation right now. Go Cowboys!!

I never said anything about being suspended. But spitting at someone is consider assault in most states. If DeAngelo Hall decides to press charges, since T.O. did admit that he did do it, he can be arrested and biiked on charges of assault. That is all I said. I never even considered the idea of the NFL doing anything to T.O. Why??? Because it never came to my mind and the MFL always seems to turn the other cheek when it comes to T.O. Though, I am not sure that the NFL should do anything to him. I think Hall should have done something. Even if it cost him the rest of the game. I don't believe that you can allow someone to spit in your face and do nothing. It is a classless act by T.O. It is a very unfortunate incident and I am sorry it happened.

Far from defending him....I think only a fine should be giving. Any suspension would be ridiculous considering steroid abuse in the NFL only merits a four game suspension when players can 'dictate' when they take it. Spitting compared to steroid abuse isn't on the same level so the penalty shouldn't be anywhere near the same.

But on the note on spitting, it's just shows his true character.

I wasn't talking about anything you said. I was just talking about people on TV bringing up the "possibility" of T.O. getting suspended.

i think he should be suspended. not from the NFL, but the Cowboys. let's be real. to those who still defend TO, please respond to this next statement.

true or false: Terrell Owens has made a spectacle of himself this season.

now, you can go on and on an don about how the media is out to "get him". you can say the media overblew his "overdose". you could say the media overblew his "late to meetings". you can say the media overblew his "Lance Armstrong" outfit. but here are two things that you cant deny and it is NOT the media's fault.

TO admitting he wasnt paying attention to Coach Parcells "championship" speech because he was thinking of his birthday party in LA. this wasnt form an outside source, this was from TO himself. i mean, c'mon, that is a lack of respect for the coach. it is always about TO.

the second thing is the spitting incident. you mean to tell me that D-Hall is the only corner to get in Terrell's face and talk trash? give me a break. the guy is bad news. i just wish Cowboy fans admit it as well, despite the fact that he is a talented player.

as i am writing this, i just heard on the NFL Network that TO was fined $35,000 and will NOT be suspended. i hope after the year, the Cowboys release this moron, that way they can focus on what is important and that is trying to win the SuperBowl.

To answer your question Prime; true.

But I feel the penalty is sufficient in the fact only as to what other offences warrant as punishment.

I personally feel the NFL commissioner or the owners - who ever has the power sit down a look at all the off and on field issues and re-work what the punishment is. Look at the Bengals; 8 players got arrested and I am pretty sure they got a mild suspension from the team (I could be wrong).....and everyone knows my stance on the NFL drug policy.

Actually the so-called "championship speech" was also exaggerated by the media. I remember reading something right after that saying that it wasn't really a championship speech. That was the title given to it by those people.

I'm glad they didn't suspend him. I think 35,000 is somewhat excessive, but it's nothing to him and he'll be playing. He's apologized and they're moving on and so am I.

T.O. has 35,000 reasons not to spit at an opponent again. The NFL didn`t suspend him, they just hit him in his pocketbook.

ticklefiend, when will you stop making excuses for this clown? i know Cowboy fans and believe me, they wish TO was NOT on the team. they are enjoying the success, but feel they could have the same success without TO.

now you are saying it wasnt a "championship speech". how about the fact that TO admitted he wasnt paying attention to the coach and thinking about other things instead of PAYING ATTENTION. the guy has no respect for his coaches. remember the "tiff" he had with the receivers coach? remember his "tiffs" with the Steve Mariucci staff in San Francisco? remember his "tiffs" with the Philadelphia Eagles organization including the offensive coordinator, Andy Reid and the management? do you even notice a pattern or are you going to claim that at all THREE locations, the media created all of this and TO is a poor innocent victim? goodness man, you cant be THAT blind.

TO was doing good until these latest incidents. when Romo took over at quarterback, we didnt hear about TO and it was a GOOD thing. he just went out, played football and that was it. that is what everyone wants him to do. stay out of the spotlight and let his play on the field speak for him. why oh why does he constantly put himself in the spotlight? then, he decides to spit at another player and his excuse is "i was getting frustrated. i apologized, let's move on..". spitting at another man is completely uncalled for and he expects this incident to "go away"? again, this whole circus surrounding him is caused by HIM. for the sake of your team, they need to let him go. because sooner or later he is going to do something completely stupid and he will cause the Cowboys to lose and fall apart. mark my words...

One time the guy admits he didn't hear what Bill Parcells was saying and he has no respect for him? Do you really think he is the first guy to have his mind in another place during a speech? Other people have and will not remember a speech because they were thinking about something else. If they don't tell you then you would never know. T.O. is a honest person.

I don't know if you notice, but Dallas isn't Philly or San Fran. What he did when he was with those teams has nothing to do with the Dallas Cowboys. I was watching ESPN earlier and this is T.O.'s timeline of incidents while in Dallas:

1. Missing practice during training camp.- With the exact same injury that kept Steve Smith out for the exact amount of time. S. Smith was injured the day befoer T.O. and came back teh day before T.O. It's also the exact same injury that plagued Hines Ward thru training camp and the beginning of the season.
2. The accidental overdose.- They did there best to spin this around and make T.O. the bad guy once again. Only T.O. can be the villain after having an accidental OD.
3. "Planning his party" during Bill Parcells' "championship" speech.- They went from saying that he was thinking about his party to planning it. They do their best to make a story be as bad as it can possibly be.
4. Spitting on DeAngelo Hall.- I've already said that what he did was wrong. The only problem I had was the fact that people were pulling for him to get suspended. T.O. being T.O. causes a lot of people to wish the worse for him.

T.O. has been a great addition to the team and I'm glad he's in Big D, like many others. If the Cowboys release him it would be a big mistake. He's a great receiver.

You know it just amazes me to hear evrything going on about Terrell Owens and all of it bad.

He has a great game against Atlanta, makes two amazing catches for touchdowns and all everyone on ESPN Radio, on ESPN can talk about, is the fact that he spit on poor DeAngelo Hall and he got his feeling hurt and wanted to go cry to the media about it because they know they can just run him into the ground over and not have to say anything good about him. When Michael Strahan jumps on Kelly Naci, ESPN's own reporter and doesnt even show up for his press meeting like he said he would and on top of all that doesnt even apologize for it, and in that huge ever so notorius New York media, doesnt even get one word of it mentioned and everyones cool with that, its looked at has "How dare Kelly Naci do her job and confront Strahan with a question about comments he made about a player on his team, For shame Kelly Naci!" by the very company that she works for!

But Terrell Owens has a great game a minor, minor incident on the field against some chump DB who if they won you wouldnt have heard one thing out of his mouth and its front page, the Dallas Cowboys need to dump him at the end of the year because he's a black eye on a great organization!

Let him have at least one moment this year, let him have his game, let him at least have a few days before someone decides to take it away from him. Yes Im a Cowboys fan, yes I know with T.O. its one thing after another and you know what?! I DONT CARE!!!! I DONT CARE IN THE LEAST LITTLE BIT!!!!!!

He is a amazing receiver and the Cowboys are lucky to have him because without him they would not be any better and cutting him would be championship SUICIDE! I promise all those who have a favorite team in the NFL that if T.O. was cut you would be on the sports talk show begging to sign this guy and and to bring his circus to your city and make your team better than what they are and I defy anyone here to say that they dont because you know your lying to yourselves!

Cowboys fans are hilarious. are any of you paying attention to what you are saying? first, to MWhoTklsFemFeet, listen to you. you are basically saying that this guy can do anything he wants, just as long as the Cowboys are winning. then you go on to say that our favorite teams would love to have him. i can tell you right now that the statement you just made is BULLSH*T.

my team is the San Francisco 49ers. guess what? we had him already. yes, i liked TO at one time. his endzone celebrations were classic. but that is not what got him out of San Fran. it was his disrespect to the management and coaching staff. gee, didnt we hear that somewhere else. YEAH, Philly!!! it was all love in Philly and remember Cowboy fans, when he showed up to Philly, remember when everyone loved him? remember that first year where he and McNabb might as well shared a bed together because there was so much love? TO was going to be great in Philly, because San Fran didnt work out for him. WHAT HAPPENED?

so now, he's a Cowboy and we get the same thing. TickleFiend, i guess the warning signs are oblivious to you. the man has no respect for authority. it happened in San Fran, it happened in Philly, it WILL happen in Dallas.

let's talk about that "speech" about Parcells. TO is a smart guy right? then WHY does this moron continue to feed the media stuff that will get him criticized and analyzed over and over again? the training camp stuff, that was minor, but he KNOWS everyone is watching him. you compare his injury to Steve Smith and Hines Ward. but they werent wearing biking suits (albeit it was funny). name one other player who PUBLICLY said he wasnt paying attention to an important speech because they had their birthday party in mind and TELL THE MEDIA about it. can you? NO. yes, human nature can make people do that, but damn, WHY TELL US YOU DID IT? you KNOW he is going to get criticized. yet, he still does it because he doesnt care....

as for the spitting incident. again, MWhoTklsFemFeet, can i meet you and then spit in your face since you consider it a minor incident? give me a break. let someone spit in your face and let's see how "minor" it is. the bad part was TO admitting it like it was no big deal. Deion Sanders even told him that it was a terrible thing and TO was "i apologized, let's move on." you Cowboy fans remember Albert Haynesworth stomping on the head of your Cowboy player. did you guys just dismiss it as frustration? NO. did you think it was minor? NO. hell, did Albert Haynesworth flippantly say "i apologize, let's move on?" NO. i can hear your brains now, "stomping is not the same as spitting". yeah, let me spit on you and tell me how you would react.....

remember Cowby fans, when this moron finally does something to wreck the Cowboys and TO gets dumped, just remember us telling you so. or will you disappear and hide?

If Chad Johnson had put on that biking gear like T.O. had then he would have been a comedic genius. T.O. being T.O. shouldn't keep him from having a little fun.

The only reason he told them about that speech was because the reporters asked. He didn't voluntarily say what he said, he was asked about that speech. What was he supposed to say? He told the truth. Why tell a lie and make it worse than they are already making it? The same thing with the D. Hall incident. I've heard people criticize him for admitting he spit on him on TV. Had he lied and a video somehow popped up, they would have wanted his head cut off.

I actually wasn't very mad at what Albert Haynesworth did. When I first saw it I was upset but I knew it would be handled. Spitting and stomping on someone are both wrong, but stomping on someones face is much worse. Haynesworth stomped on a defenseless guys face while he was on the ground and caused damage to his eye that could have been a lot worse.

Primetime Im not saying what he did was right Im just saying let the guy have at least one good day, let him enjoy the fact that dispite all the negativity, dispite all the criticism, can we just let him have that one game if any where we dont talk about what he dropped instead of what he caught?

Yes I said it myself that yes I am a Cowboys fan and yes if he was still in Philladelphia and did this to Terance Newman I might be all over him, but I wouldnt deny that he had a great game, and you cant tell me that again if the Cowboys released him after this year, with all his problems, his drama, and over all trouble, you still deep in the back of your mind would not want him to come back to San Francisco.

In Dallas compared to all his other stops he has been relitivly quiet and until he does something like divide the locker room, criticizes Parcelles, or throw Tony Romo, who he is very very happy with and vise versa under the bus, I'm not gonna take away the fact that he had a great game, and yes I will admit also if the Cowboys were 5-9 instead of 9-5 I would have a problem with it, but Im willing to let it go because they are winning and he is entitled to have some fun and enjoy himself and not be a punching bag for the media.

i will never deny that TO is a great athlete. he is definitely in the top 3 of the best wide receivers in the game along with Chad Johnson and Steve Smith. however, it is his antics that cause his undoing.

did he have a great game against Atlanta? yes, he had a tremendous game, but it gets marred by his spitting incident. to me, if TO just shuts his mouth and avoids controversy, then he is an okay guy. the simple fact that he causes problems is what turns me against him. his touchdown antics are great. i see nothing wrong with that, but that's not why people despise him. when he wore the biking outfit, i personally laughed and thought it was funny, but since he is under a big microscope, he might want to lay off the humor for a while. when he said he didnt hear Parcell's speech, he laughed as though it was no big deal. his demeanor is telling the public "who cares about what my coach is saying, i got a party to plan".

you compare TO's antics to Chad Johnson's. the difference between Chad and Terrell is Chad isnt disrespecting his teammates, coaching staff or organization. Chad hasnt been essentially kicked off teams. i am telling you this now, when TO was in San Fran and he did the sharpie thing, the stand on the Cowboys star, dance with the pom poms, i laughed my way onto the floor. when TO was in Philly and he imitated Ray Lewis' dance, i laughed. when he wore the Lance Armstrong outfit in Dallas, i laughed. but, i still wouldnt want this guy on my team because he will destroy it. he only cares about himself. he proved that in two places. we see signs now that he isnt a changed human being. it is only a matter of time before he does something outrageous in Dallas.

the only thing i want Cowboy fans to admit is that yeah, they have a complete asshole on their team who is very capable of destroying their organization, but as long as he shuts his trap, and just plays football, then you can stomach him. but, i get Cowboy fans defend him and his antics. i get Cowboy fans who try to make his latest discretions seem like minor incidents. like i said, let someone spit on you and you'll see that it is no minor incident.

and to answer you MWhoTklsFemFeet, there is no way IN HELL i would take TO back in San Fran. he BURNED that bridge a long time ago...

Okay primetime, with respect to what you said, I will admit that yes he is a asshole, he is very capable of detinated this Cowboys team when and if things go wrong, and no Im not being sarcastic Im being very very real about who he is, but until that does happen Im gonna continue to enjoy the fact that he is on my team, catching touchdowns in my endzone and helping my team win.

I also know my limits as well, if Randy Moss was availible and the Cowboys wanted to bring him in, I would think it would be the biggest mistake of all time, Even if it meant winning a Super Bowl or two, I wouldnt do because he's just not worth the trouble but Terrell Owens is.

Im sorry but I just cant argue with the results of what's going on here in Dallas,

two years ago 6-10: no playoffs
last year 9-7: no playoffs
this year 9-5: playoffs and a chance at a bye in the first round

Your right as long as he just shows up on sunday and plays all out like he's always done and keeps quiet a good portion of the season I got no problem with him at all.
