Take a look from the vanilla standpoint

From the perspective of a vanilla, what do you think tickling looks like? Unless your having an orgasm, to them it can't be sexual. It's a love/hate torture, and some hate it. So why do we love it so much?

Several years ago there was a study among college students that found that about one-third hated being tickled, about a third were indifferent, and about a third like being tickled. So we're obviously part of the third that likes it. (I think more research needs to be done, don't you? hehe)

It seems to me fetishes in general are gaining wider acceptance. But I think ours is pretty innocent compared to many other fetishes out there from the standpoint of both how common tickling is in society at large and also the fact that many in the BDSM community don't even consider our fetish to be a real or serious fetish. Sometimes I think we can be too self-conscious about it. I think ours kind of fits somewhere between mainstream/vanilla society and hardcore fetishes that scare vanillas...I don't think our fetish is seen as 'scary' to vanillas; odd maybe or strange or unusual but not scary or dangerous or antisocial.

As many different reasons as there are different individuals who love tickling. There's the power exchange thing, the tactile touch thing, the intimacy thing, the play thing, the sex thing, and on and on. Same question could be asked of those with another fetish or preference.

So why do we love it so much?

Everybody has their own reason to love it. I enjoy the feeling, the being out of control, letting myself go totally. But when and why I was wired that way - I have no clue. I didn't even know that I was turned on by being tickled until I was in my twenties. Before that, I just knew the sight of someone being tickled turned me on, and I really can't tell you why and when that happened and how I am different from vanilla people.

Why would we care what other people think? "Follow your bliss" as Joseph Campbell use to say.

If i was a vanilla not into tickling, id just think it was a silly fetish. not creepy or sick though.

Like the old saying goes "opinions are like assholes, everyone has one". I'd rather have the feelings I have towards tickling than some of the other perversions that are out there. I consider tickling quite mild in the scheme of things. I've had the feelings I have now as far back as I can remember. I've been fortunate enough to have had many tickling encounters from way back when. However, I avoided being tickled like the plague. Now, I wonder the wisdom in that. I kinda wish I had experienced being worked over by someone that knew what they were doing because now I'm not ticklish anymore. So, you've got some time ahead of you to experience all the world of our wonderful thing we have here. Embrace it as it comes and don't try to rush things. Keep it in a light tone. :3poke:

What? Are there really kinksters that are stuck in this sort of narrow minded belief? That "your" is interchangeable with "you're"?

From a vanillas eyes I would hope it looks like two people enjoying themselves, when I've spoken to a nilla person about my fetish they usally smile and think it sounds cute and fun so that validates my hopes to a degree I think 🙂

Your/you're ...? Seriously? We don't need to tell people how to type, your might not be the right word sometimes but it does the job, this forum isn't a live english exam... Deary me.

It was a joke. The setup was to lead people into thinking I was disagreeing with the obviously false premise that vanilla people only care about orgasms, and then pull a switcharoo concerning the OP's grammar. Not a very good joke, but meh.

Great answers everyone. My most sincere apologies for the "your" mess up. It was late.

It's not like it's a self esteem issue, where I'm worried about my significant other finding out, or any of my friends. It's an overall idea about the whole fetish. I guess in the grand scheme of things, most people would rather be tickled than peed on or god knows what else.

Boy, you got that right!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Most people, to me at least, seem pretty receptive. Especially if you have been dating a while or such. Some may see it as silly, but no one i know has been freaked out as I imagine the case with many other fetishes would be.

2. We like it so much because are minds are so superior that they make simple tasks such as sex even more
interesting.
