Sara: have you ever noticed when you wear nylons that your feet will be more ticklish than usual?

Rose P: I do not know about this brand, all it is stating is that it is made of thicker material to be worn in colder weather.
Sara: hmm i wonder what effect that would have on that
Rose P: I think it would be like wearing a thin sock that goes all the way up your leg. It would probably feel pretty comfortable.
Sara: yeah it could be. do you know what it is about nylons that make your foot so darn sensitive?
Rose P: It might be the smoothness, and your foot moves around more.
Sara: yeah because if i wear nylons, i can't walk on carpet or i will laugh
Rose P: That is cute.
Sara: are you at all the same way?
Sara: that is my concearn about buying thights if they will do that to me or not
Rose P: To be real truthful, I have not worn hose in about 5 years, I have leg problems.

Rose P: The sheer would do that, I do not know about the opague nylons.
Sara: how much more sensitive would you say the sheer would make it?

Tiffany R: I did a little research and I see that seamless stockings were introduced in the 1950's so I would recommend a seamless style. Also, stiletto heels with a pointed tow were a common sight during that era. Let me see if I can find anything online that would work for you.
Susan: wonderful
Susan: yeah i need hosiery too
Susan: another thing is the shoe needs to come off fairly easily. i compain about it hurting and it's taken off for the guy to rub the foot
Tiffany R: Thank you for waiting. Really for hosiery any black nylon would work great I think. I would recommend not getting tights because they would be too dark for the era. They typically wore pantyhose then and not garter belts; however, depending on the character, who sounds a little more forward, you could do a garter belt and thigh highs. It is really funny, I am in theatre so I totally feel know what you are going through.

Tiffany R: Also, if you show has a costumer you may want to check about the authenticity, but if they had fishnets then they could be a great option for Musetta.
Susan: thats interesting i've never worn those..i don't wear nylons often..so you think black would be best?
Tiffany R: If you went with fishnets I think the black would be a great contrast. With the full nylons the black maybe too 80's.
Tiffany R: Perhaps a nude color would be better in the full pantyhose.
Susan: so medium beige maybe?
Tiffany R: Yes that would be good.
Susan: do you know anything about the texture of these?
Tiffany R: Let me take a look.
Tiffany R: The texture is very smooth. They are made of a soft nylon blended with elastane for stretch.
Susan: ok..so is that at all different from a reguler cheaper nylon?
Tiffany R: It is a little bit higher quality nylon but really no different.
Susan: i'm trying to find out what i need to know without sounding silly, but i'm gonna be honest with you cause you seem open minded haha. when he is playing with my foot i'm already noticing that i'm having areallly hard time not laughing, and he can't do anything different. i'm wondering if these are going to enhance the sensation
Susan: do you know what i mean?
Tiffany R: Yes. That is a tough one because any nylon will enhance the situation because it makes his fingers glide much easier.
Susan: sorry what do you mean? haha
Tiffany R: Well, the surface of your foot is going to be covered in nylon which is a slipper material. Rather than his fingers having to move over the skin on your feet, which provide a little resistance, it has to go over the nylon which is a nice smoother slippery surface. Ever notice how, when feet are concerned, the lighter they are touched the more it tickles. Nylons will make the touch lighter because it won't get, for lack of a better word, stuck.
Susan: yeah thats what someone told me but nylons are needed for the show so i don't have much of a choice haha
Susan: silk would make it even worse wouldn't it?
Tiffany R: Yeah it would. Perhaps you and he can work on him touching your foot a little heavier but still making it look like a light tickle.
Susan: yeah i'll have to work that out...i guess i'll probably get these. with these, the nylon kind, how much more would you say it would tickle
Tiffany R: I would have a hard time not laughing if someone was touching my fee to.
Tiffany R: It really depends on the person and their sensitivity.
Tiffany R: I can't say for sure. I know personally it tickles me a little bit more but not a ton.,
Susan: well my feet are extremely ticklish, i just wonder how much more it would do it
Susan: like how much more
Tiffany R: I would say, percentage wise, like 10%-20% more ticklish.
Susan: like from what kind of reaction- what? lol
Tiffany R: From just kind of giggling and moving my foot around to a little squirming to get a way. I guess. That is the best I can put. I have honestly never been asked to describe my ticklishness before! Ha ha. I guess I'll be ready if it ever comes up again.

Susan: maybe if i can get a shoe that is open he can mime the tickling with the shoe on
Tiffany R: It's okay. I was just like "How do I word this?"
Tiffany R: That is a could suggestion.

Susan: the script has him like rubbing it and helping me, but the director wants tickles

Susan: i've talked to him, he is firm on wanting that

Tiffany R: So a foot rub that includes some tickling rather than just a quick little tickle?
Tiffany R: Just a quick little tickle would only take a couple of seconds.
Susan: yeah some
Tiffany R: How long is he rubbing your foot?
Susan: 30 secs maybe
Tiffany R: Were you thinking something more with an open toe?
Susan: i dunno what do u think?
Tiffany R: I think doing just an open toe would make it hard for the audience to believe that he was rubbing your foot through your shoe. A strappy sandal style may be more believable.
Susan: ok i'd love to see some more of ur ideas

Tiffany R: I think it would be possible because you arches would still be exposed.
Tiffany R: Also, you could kind of let the shoe hang off the front of your foot so the back is open.
Susan: i'm still nervous about the nylons
Susan: would fishnets do the same thing?
Tiffany R: The fishnets would probably cut back on how much it tickles because they have a rough texture and would provide more resistance.
Susan: haha when did you discover the effect that nylons have?
Tiffany R: I didn't really discover it. It just seems like more bumps on the surface would provide more resistance and stop his fingers from gliding over your foot. It is all science! Who knew! Ha ha.
Susan: so it's never happened to you in theatre/
Tiffany R: Not on my feet. I did have a scene where I had to be tickled on the sides though. It took a lot of practicing "fake" tickling to make me not burst out laughing when I was supposed to be angry. It still tickled though.
Susan: oh wow what show was that?
Tiffany R: It was in a student piece in college. It was written by, directed by, and performed by students called "Forever Hungry".
Susan: i'm gonna order this stuff and then go to rehearsal, i have on opeque tights right now, do you think they will effect it?
Tiffany R: They may help to cut back on the ticklishness a little bit because they are thicker. If these things don't work for you they can be returned.
