30-year-old Georgia teacher Katrina Ann Rucker, has been charged with battery and cruelty to children for allegedly beating a student's parent after she tried to retrieve the child's bookbag. The student, who attempted to get the teacher off of her mother, was grabbed by the hair and dragged out of the classroom by the teacher. The parent is in stable condition and the teacher has been placed on administrative leave for her actions.

My 1st grade teacher used to throw one kid on the ground and drag him out by the back of the shirt all the time....no one EVER said anything to her....she didnt jsut take him out into the hall either, she dragged him like that all the way to the office.....

I can't really say I know what thats like, but it sure is reckless behavior. Wheres the professionalism? That teacher can't honestly expect to regain her reputation after this.

Ara!!! What a minute, I do remember something! I didn't witness it, but I heard it from friends on campus when I was in middle school. Apparently a teacher of mine, Mr. Farris, got pissed with a kid and literally picked up a chair and threw it at him.

While I did never learn of the exact details, and he was actually fired and arrested, him and I got along very well. If he suddenly went all Mr. Hyde on people, I sure didn't see it as coming from him.

The moral is teachers are only human too, and they have to put up with alot more than students, parents, or sometimes even other teachers or the principal give them credit for. Albeit, they are still responsible for their actions and should be handled accordingly by the law.

i would think that teachers may get hit by angry parents, but this one certainly is a twist.

In this case I think the teacher does deserve to get fired However at times some of those parents do deserve to get hit Years back i was talking to a friend of mine whose wife taught middle school around the daytona Florida area

She would tell me that whenever a child was doing poorly at school it just had to be the teacher's fault Or whenever the child wouldn't do the homework,or did it poorly, again it just had to be the teacher's fault

This angers me. I'm fighting with my teeth to get in the education system and can't because of my GPA. Yet, here's a moron who probably had the required 3.0 to get in and look at his/her morals. Beating up a parent in front of the child? What's next????

This sounds completely insane!

It was one thing for two adults to go at it, but a completely different story when you take a kid by the hair and drag them into the hallway after they watch you beat their parent in front of them. I normally defend teachers because many kids of just out of control. But I can't defend this one, someone could've really gotten hurt. Better realize that some of these folks have family members who don't mind a parking lot meeting of the minds.

Attempted murder? Drukenness on the job? Vandalizism? Chiling phone calls of" I know where you live, Mrs. Johnson, mother of Johnny Johnson!"

The sky's the limit unfortunately. And when a teacher, mailman, or anyone really goes off the deep end its something we can only hope to protect against. What makes it so dangerous is not knowing when people are going to snap and who these people are. Though I'm sure there are often signs, but people ignore them or don't take them seriously. People really need to start watching folks a little more.
