I haven't finished it yet, but it seems to be separating the causes of depression. Obviously if you've had trauma in your life, a bad childhood, etc......that's different than the people who are depressed and they don't have that clear cause. And those who fall in that latter category do better with the antidepressants over those of us who had actual stuff happen to make us gloomy or whatever......
Me personally, I weaned myself quickly off of the drugs I was prescribed and decided to just learn to live with the way I am, rather than go on a roller-coaster ride of medications. Anyways, it appears "the way I am" is not that much different than most people I encounter! Everyone's wacky! "It's not a symptom of health to be well-adjusted to a sick society" (paraphrasing ). I think probably talking it out with someone and coming up with practical strategies to deal is a better way to go in the long run. I know my day-to-day mood is better than it's ever been and I'm not on anything and haven't been since 2006. Ten years!
(i do smoke pot, though, maybe that's the antidepressant, I might want to rethink my whole post now!)
