The 2010 Hockey Season thread

Hey all,

This thread is to front about anything hockey: from the grassroots level of getting kids together to have fun in their respective minor leagues, to discussion about the next up and comers in the junior levels, all the way to the endless talk involving the pros... this is the place to sound off!

I'll start by saying that this season, at least from the outset, looks to be a very interesting one for two of the teams I cheer for: the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators. Both teams made pretty decent splashes into the trade/free agent market and look poised to have good seasons. I'm glad that hockey is finally back!

After seeing a pre-season game tonight by my Kings and the Avs (Kings winning 5-3) I'm very excited that the season is back and very anxious to see what the Kings can do this year. The roster is great, the goalies are young, quick and tough and if they can play all season the way they did tonight, they should have no problem making it to the playoffs this year. Long Live Hockey!!! Long Live the Kings!!!!

Bruins vs Caps tonight, and you can bet your ass I'm pumped. Even with the loss of Kessel, I'm confident in my Boston boys for this season. Should definately be a great game of hockey tonight.

Boston wins it all. I'm proud of what Ottawa's trying to do, but they're just not there yet. If Cheechoo doesn't pull through his weight, losing Heatley will hurt them badly.

Chicago lost their better goaltender, and replaced Martin Havlat's 77 points with Marion "No Show When It Matters Most" Hossa's 71 points. Havlat was also their best player in the playoffs last year. Hossa will also be out until November. I'm struggling to see how so many people, especially in the media, considers them front runners for the Cup. Not saying they can't do it, but Anaheim, Detroit, and San Jose are still the teams to beat.

That would actually make for a great first round... however, no way do I see Boston hoisting the cup at the end... guess we'll see! Cheers,

Rocky start for my B's against the Caps but I gotta say it's making me laugh. The first game and all of the "Bruins are in first... I love the Bruins!" bandwagon fans from last year are already casting them out. True, the Bruins had no hussle at all against the Caps, but let's be honest, Washington has one solid team down there. God I love hockey season.

Oh please 😛 I wouldn't be so sure about that, Trez. Caps are pretty impressive I have to say... will be an interesting year for sure. I don't think the Pens are anyway near dynasty territory yet but they have as good a shot as anyone 😉
