have you guys checked out the new yahoo messenger yet? i relize it won't be for everyone. But i seem to think that its cool IMO so i'll prob got ahead and Download it tonight or sometime Tommorw. they have totally updated it big time with a new fresh lay out new features and everything!

I downloaded and installed it a bit ago, and yeah, it is pretty cool graphically speaking. it was a bit tricky to get downloaded and installed, but that may have something to do with my (and your, ticklishsinner) firewall. just keep hitting the retry button, and don't abort it...it will install.

Click on the Download now button. and then wait for a few minutes for it to load up the yahoo messenger screen. it will pop up and Load trust me!! because it worked for me. and then from thier you can go ahead and began to download it.

yes...just keep hitting retry, it will download the installer (I sent it to a folder I created called 'My Downloads', sub-folder 'Utilities'). then go to wherever YOU send the installer and click on it . it will start to install...I got several messages saying something about not being able to connect to a server, and again it asked me to retry or abort...here again, keep hitting the retry button. also, it's going to ask you if you want to install the whole suite. unless you want Yahoo to 'take over as your default e-mail prog and start page, just select the Yahoo Messenger.

you may have the firewall integrated into your virus scanner and not know it. do you have the Norton Internet Security package? if so, you DO have a firewall. you can try to dis-able (turn off) your virus scanner before you do the download and install, then en-able it (turn it back on) after it is complete. sometimes that makes a world of difference.

ok first i am computer retarded i may have a firewall or may not im not sure, the problem isnt downloading it it downloads just fine but when it goes to the set up wizard thing it telle me it can not connect to server, i will try again just hitting retry and see what happens, but thank you all for the advice and if it still doesnt download i will try stopping my virus scanner and then see what happens, but Faramir, thank you for going through the trouble of giving me those suggestions i think it also might be i have an older computer...and Shy i do have patience it is the fact that mine will not download for some reason or another, but i shall try all of your suggestions
