Hey, just curious how many Mets fans are out there. I happen to be a huge mets fan, and want to know who else is with me. Yankees fans can go ahead and say what that the Mets suck and all that, but just keep in mind that I couldn't care less about 26 championships ... or you.

Glad to see your Mets are doing well. That being said, where were you when the majority of the season they were floating around .500

Uhhh, I wasn't a member here yet, that's where I was.

I don't mean this in a snide way, and I am not looking to seem smug or anything, but I am not the type of Mets fan that sits back and waits for something good to happen before I become vocal. I watch probably 100 games a year, 25 or 30 at the ballpark, and the rest on tv. I have been a die hard Mets fan since I was 8 years old, and probably would have been before that if I was old enough to appreciate the fact that my uncle played for the Mets.

So where I was ... I was torn between my respect for Willie Randolph and my respect for Jerry Manuel ... and I was trying to figure out how for every game the Mets won, they lost one ... and for every little 3 or 4 game streak there was a 3 or 4 game skid ... and waiting for everything to click ... which it did (and again, i DO NOT mean this in a smug or asshole way) right around the time that Oliver Perez pitched a 3 hit 8 k game and two days before Carlos Delgado had 9 rib eye steaks in the series again the Yanks ... again, I am not comparing the two because I respect the Yankees and their history and I love going to Yankee Stadium and I loved the years the Joe Torre managed the team ... I just don't give a shit about the Yankees

What's your team flock?

I am huge Rangers fan so we have both gone though our teams being terrible over the years. I had season tickets all for 11 or or 12 years

Your uncle is whom??? I have been a Mets fan since 1971. My father did the crane work in helping build Shea Stadium. There are some Mets fans here and there. Not too many though.

Lee Mazzilli

Really? Interesting. I recall when he managed my beloved Orioles just a few years back. The poor guy never got a fair shake. It's not his fault the Orioles suffered from a severe lack of talent, but you know how it is. The manager always gets canned in that situation, no matter how unfair it may be.

He has really been a Marlins fan since 1971. He is also a big fan of the Dh, wishes the National league would use it.

Actually what I wish I can't say on the boards here. But I am a NL fan who despises the DH like Flock does. In actuality Flock is a Cubs fan but has been too embarrased for 100 years to admit. And if you are wondering Flock is the living human being to actually see the Cubs win their last World Series. In fact, remembers all the players and can give you the play by play of all four games. What a guy!!! :woot:

The real truth is that ticklingfeet4fun doesn`t even like baseball. He is a huge fan of cricket. He played in semi-pro leagues in brooklyn.

I'm a Braves fan, Nuke, and as you probably know, your Mets are beating my Braves tonight at Shea.

Wow, that's cool about Lee Maz being your uncle. Maz was one of the few good players whom the Mets had in the late 70s, and early 80s, after they traded Seaver away, and were not a very good team. Maz was flashy, fast, and hit a decent amount of homers, for a team that didnt hit very many.

The way the Mets are playing, you seem primed for a September celebration. I have a strong feeling that the Mets may go far in 2008.

Mitch
