Great White North...sorry, can't get into it. The Canadians are staunch and loyal allies and have always demonstrated strong moral and ethical standards in general as a nation. I feel lucky to have lived in Buffalo and spent as much time as I did across the border in a variety of places, most notably Toronto (my fav summer place to go, by far!).....

Many think Americans don't appreciate their neighbors, but throughout the Southern tier the truth has always been known.

Alexander Keiths.. the finest pale ale to come out of NovaScotia.
(is it available in the states?)
Also Windsor, Ontario( where I mak emy humble home) is the home of Hiram Walkers distillary( makers of Canadian club) and of the Walkerville Brewing Company, which makes some damn fine and localy famous beer. No WONDER all the little kiddies from Detroit( who are too young to drink legally over there) come over to Windsor to party.

Nope I've not tried Sleeman's yet,though I've heard it's excellent.. now you gave me an excuse to add another fine beverage to my repetoire! 😀


As far as good Celtic music, the hubby & I, plus some friends , are going to our fave Irish pub, a place called Murphy's, to see the Shannon Brothers, a local Irish band that does a lot of covers os Shane McGowan and the Pogues songs, plus some original compositions. Tis best enjoyed while dipping in to a creamy pint of Guinness!

Though I don't have any of their records/cds, I've heard of The Pogues, seen their videos on MTV(when they used to show videos), and their appearance on Saturday Night Live many years back.
They are an excellent band, first thing that caught my eye was Shanes teeth(?)

As a "transplanted Yank( NY born married to a Canadian) I get a lot of S**t about my "funny spelling"( ie the american way without the "ou"), actually got it graded wrong on a paper I wrote for University. When I asked why this was so I was bluntly told "Here in Canada we use the proper Queens English. This holds for EVERYONE in this class, even Americans!" Did I ever feel loved!
Now I've started to do things "the Canadian Way" and have been accused jokingly by my New Jersey friends and family of "turning Caunk" Oh well like they say, you can't please all of the people all of the time!
