Today I saw "The Aviator". In my opinion, it was a brilliant film. Leonardo Dicaprio did an awesome job of playing the eccentric billionaire and airline pilot and mogul, Howard Hughes. The movie also had excellent supporting roles from Alec Baldwin, Kate Beckinsale, and Cate Blanchett. The movie was a long epic, nearly three hours, but worth every minute of its length.
As many of us who enjoy Dicaprio's movies know, he seems to play his best roles in long, epic complex films, as evidenced in "Titanic", and 2002's "Catch Me If You Can" .
Until I saw this movie, I had originally thought that Jamie Foxx deserved the Oscar for best lead actor in a movie for his role in "Ray" as Ray Charles. After seeing "The Aviator", if I had to vote, I'd give it to Leo. He was THAT good in this movie!
Has anyone else seen "The Aviator" yet? I know it just came out yesterday, and that yesterday was of course Christmas, but I would be interested to know if anyone has seen this movie yet, and what your thoughts were. Thanks.
Mitch
