I just started reading the book "The Bible Code II" ....it claims that World War III will begin while Bush is in office, and it will climax with a nuclear earth-ending war in 2006...yes...2006....the author said that he has sent letters to the white house, but of course, no one will believe it.....it foretold 9/11....and it was created 3000 years ago....this is scary stuff....another interesting thing is that it says that Bin Laden will be caught soon....smallpox will become a reality soon....this is some scary s**t...really makes you think...

Well, its either very true, or very much a crock. In some ways I think its what people want to hear, even if its bad. They want to be given a shaking, and have shivers sent down their spines.

Where does this "book" come from? Can it be traced or even authenticized (sp?)?

- Damien

Well

I bought it from Bookstop...you can get it in any bookstore.

Who is the author, and is he affilated with any sources outside or even inside the Vatican?

Making claims like these are very serious.

Can you elaborate on anything else about this book?

I edited my first response, in case you didn't get it.

- Damien

No ...

The Bible code is real...the author of this book is Michael Drosnin...The Bible code has been unlocked by computers...by a famous Isreal mathematician...Eliyahu Rips....it is a code that has been hidden in the Bible for 3000 years....and it is finally starting to be discovered because of how much technology has improved.....

Is this like the Omega Code? Where they assign numbers to all the letters of the bible and shuffle them all about and predict all sorts of things. With the sheer number of possibilities you can predict all sorts of things. I wouldn't worry to much about it myself. Lahaye said the beginning of armageddon would occur in 2007 not that I necessarily believe that either. Just my thoughts though.

I know that because you've read it and have come to believe it that your persistant in thinking so, but don't you believe any of this simply could have been doctored? Mathmatics doesn't prove anything. The Bible, especially the book of Revelations is very symbolic. More so then it is mathmatical. Did this author consider that perhaps he's approaching it the wrong way, or that perhaps these "de-coders" are? Then theres still the chance that such sensitive information could easily be manipulated for any number of reasons.

I'm not denying what his and their research may say, but I don't think its necessarily so precise or accurate.

Does anyone feel as I do?

PS: I am a Roman Catholic, and have heard of and read of things like this, so please don't pass me off as an ignorant bystander. Thank you.

With regards to the Bible code stuff I agree. It is to easy to manipulate things around to get the info you want out. Sort of like the old computer programmers motto "garbage in, garbage out". Of course I don't know if this book is doing the same thing by assigning numerical values to the letters of the text or something akin to that. If it is then I am skeptical, If not I am somewhat intrigued as to what they are doing.

If it is a hoax, its a good one. Although creating this hoax shouldn't be at the expense of the Bible.

If its real however, then I have no doubt that the time line may very well be just as the factors suggest.

I suppose what leaves the chance to be skeptical open is that its so specific. Only God Himself or a great prophet would have known this. And to falsify the word of God, exagerate it, or otherwise lie about it is truely one of the most blasphemous things a human could do, and they ought to go to hell. And I mean that both ways.

The Bible Code is crap -- it relies simply on the fact that the Bible is very long, and by pure probability it's easy to find text clusters that spell out messages that seem to be significant if you look long enough. (It helps a lot if you're working with the Bible in Hebrew, since written Hebrew generally doesn't include vowels, allowing the searcher to just insert them to help spell "significant" words.) Using the same method as Drosnin, mathematicians have found "predictions" of famous assassinations in Moby Dick . Moby Dick also apparently predicted the attack on the World Trade Center and the war in Afghanistan (http://cs.anu.edu.au/~bdm/dilugim/wtc.html . I'm sure it would be easy enough to find references to the attack on Iraq. See http://cs.anu.edu.au/~bdm/dilugim/torah.html or http://www.csicop.org/si/9711/bible-code.html for more articles skeptical of the Bible Codes.

Now, you want disturbing? The Pentagon called Drosnin in for a briefing earlier this year to see if Bible Codes could help them find Osama. And I thought having President Reagan make policy based on what Nancy's astrologer told him was bad ...

Thanks for your post, Shem. I was going to look up the same rebuttal, but hadn't found it yet.

By taking, for example, every 40th letter, from each of 40 starting points, in any very long work, you will get many things that look like successful predictions, just because of the vast length of the string you have created.

If you don't get enough, you try every 41st letter, or every 50th letter, or every 44th letter, and so on.

:sowrong: Why must people constantly decide that they know when the end of the world will be??? Could it be that they want to know how long they have to live like hell before they claim heaven?

This guy is just like any other clown trying to dictate the future. It isn't a valid way of doing things. And, to use Scripture in order to do so is something I personally find obscene. You want a Scripture quote?..."It is not for man to know when the Son of Man will appear". If this guy believes Scripture, then he has to start there.

The Book of Revelation was not meant to be a checklist of events to watch for. It's a very symbolic thing. We've seen several people over the years decide that they know when the end will be. In every case, the time has come and gone with nothing ever happening. This will be the same. I wouldn't waste my time reading it.

While this DOES look bad, one thing should be kept in mind. Osama himself is trying to fulfill what he sees as his destiny. Many of the events and prophecies in the Bible and the Koran are parallels of one another. So, it would make some sense to look at those books as one part of trying to determine where someone following them would go. I'd only have a problem with that if it took the place of normal intelligence steps, which it didn't.

As for the other things that have been found to appear as prophetic... I have a brother who uses Scripture to defend his disgusting prejudices and beliefs that those not like him were meant to be second class people who should bow to him. I don't believe that crap any more than I do the fortune telling garbage. We can take any book we like and find SOMETHING in it to corelate with what's happening in the world. It's called coincidence, not prophecy.

here are my thoughts on this. there will be an anti-christ. however he wont be the "Hitler" type where he just tries to win over the world by force. he will rise through the ranks peacefully. he will be highly respected and highly regarded. he will be considered a great leader. he will bring peace to the conflict between Israel and Palestine. this "world leader" will have a reign of seven years, otherwise known as the tribulation period. during this tribulation period, his true colors will be revealed. he will be the most evil man in history. he is truly the son of Satan. everyone on the planet must receive his "mark" to buy or sell. this is known as the "mark of the beast." during his 7 year reign, about halfway through WW III will take place. but the world will not be destroyed. nuclear bombs will probably be used, but the Earth will not be destroyed. at the end of this war, that is when Christ is supposed to come back to defeat the Anti-Christ and set up his 1000 year reign on Earth.

they say the Anti-Christ will have a false prophet at his side. if you think about it, there is one particular person that commands a lot of attention and respect and people will follow. he is the perfect sidekick for the Anti-Christ. if you havent guessed it, he will probably be the next Pope. the Anti-Christ and the false prophet are the "great deceivers". if the Pope is supporting you, chances are, people will follow you. after all, the Pope cant be evil can he?

again, these are just my thoughts on the situation. when will it all happen? no one knows exactly, but it will happen soon. i think the Iraq war is just part of the chain of events that must occur so the Anti-Christ can come along. it may take another decade, it could take next year, but it could very well occur. thought provoking isnt it?

My 3.25 cents...and a question

Remember Nostradamus? The self-styled 16th C. "prophet" that people have claimed to have predicted everything from the Gulf War to the invention of ketchup (not to mention 2000 flushes).

He claimed the end of the world would come when forces would clash with someone of Arab descent. Ya, ok. Maybe he just didn't like the middle east, and/or Moors, or whatever they were called at the time.
Hmph!! Prejudice does not a soothsayer make...

So, now, everytime an Arab-looking bloke does sumpin' bad enough to warrant media attention, the end of the world is nigh, again, and the end-of-the-world phenomena comes out of hiding once more to be practised like some sort of pagan ritual by self-proclaimed warlocks and witches. Hmph!!

If prediction were a viable entity without the aid of empirical data, tools like statistics and some aspects of mathematics would be nonexistent (mathematics, in it's most basic form, is a type of measurement).

Finally, I was brought up to believe 3 major distinctions b/w the three main Holy Books:

The Torah was mathematically based
The Qur'an was scientifically based
The Bible was story based

Oversimplifications I'm sure, but if I'm wrong aboot this, please advise, for this is for my personal curiosity. Thanks.

Cheers.😀

Whoa Whoa Whoa..

I never said I believed it...Im just letting you guys know what I read...pick up the book and see what you think..(if you don't mind spending the money)

Hey, bring up a thread on the Bible and I just can't resist throwing in my tuppence worth.

If I'm not mistaken the Mark of the Beast is refered to as ..... "He causeth all men, rich and poor, great and small, free and bond to have a mark put in their right hand, or upon their foreheads; so that none could by or sell, save that he had the mark.........."

Now the top two places suggested for implanting a personal microchip, are the head and the back of the right hand. (Shades of Total Recall and Demolition Man, huh?) According to people enthusiastic in the field, this chip would be your passport, driving license wallet and everything else. So many things would become reliant on having one of these things implanted that life would become an intollerable pain in the arse for anyone who chose not to have one. The problem is though, that most if not all transactions would require one for the mnoey to be electronically transfered. Remember the words, "none could buy or sell, save that he had the mark" ? Scary huh? Bloody right it is! Personally I cannot think of anything more repellant than having one of these things and I'd encourage anyone who retains a shred of independance not to have one. As Myriads could very well tell you because he has friends who work in the field on nanotechnology, it's perfectly possible to not only have the body send instructions to the chip, but the chip (and hence the network the chip is linked to) can send instructions to the body as well! Now we are talking about the ultimate fascist-state accessory here! These things would be capable of making sure that the population was dull-witted and docile. Perfect for keeping them in line.

As for the bit about the 1000 years of peace, (after the angel has bound the Dragon in the abyss for a thousand years afetr which he will get loose and work his deceit a while) remember the words....... "for him that shall follow me, a day is like a thousand years and thousand years is like a day". Anything you can read in the Bible can be reversed or truncated to mean something else.

I see that this book is "Bible Code 2". If it's anything like the first one, then it's total crap. The first one was alleged to have predicted that Lee Harvey Oswald would assasinate John F. Kennedy. Does anyone seriously believe that LHO killed Kennedy any more? The dude had seriously average marks from his Marine Corps assesments. It would have taken someone in the Martin Riggs category to have hit Kennedy from that angle, at that height, at that range, in a moving car, through very thick foliage. (Especially managing to fire a bullet that leaves a massive entry wound and an exit wound the size of a nickel.) *cue Kevin Costner saying..."back, and to the lay-eft......back, and to the lay-eft........back, and to the lay-eft"........

Don't take this book with a pinch of salt. Take it with a pound of the stuff!

I have read some of the Bible Codes, and some of them are right on the money. There will always be skeptics and nay-sayers. When God prophecised to Daniel about the "coming empire" (the Roman Empire), many people refused to believe. A one-world empire, was ludicrious and could never happen.

When the Reign of the Beast for 1,260 years was prophecised, there were naysayers who refused to believe.

Bible prophecies are being fulfilled every day, but the naysayers brush them off as mere coincidence or as my dad likes to say "Andybody could have seen that coming, eventually".

Well life is more than a random toss of the dice.

Anyways back to the Bible Code....there were 7 references to Osama Bin Laden and he was titled the "King of Terror" and that "terror is his weapon", but Lo another shall come and he will be of pure evil, a evil that the world has never seen.

So according to what I have read, that after Osama, the Anti-Christ will emerge. Contrary to popular belief, Osama is not the Anti-Christ, but is the fore-runner of the Anti-Christ (the one who will announce his coming, the same way that John the Baptist hearlded the coming of Jesus Christ the Messiah.

Amen. My feelings exactly. Thats why I even replied to this thread. As I said, people want to be scared or shook up. And this is at the expense of scripture and the Bible, and it has allowed this man to profit from it. Its most disgraceful at any rate. The Bible wasn't designed to be a thriller or horror novel. Its NOT for our entertainment and leisure. Its clearly only the means of our salvation and serves as a pedigree of the past and a warning of the future. But this warning shouldn't be consumed to cause mass-panic, uncertainty, or to sell a book.

@ everyone else-

I'm glad you all seem to agree. I don't believe it either. Its just another book out of the many, designed to entertain you in an almost sadistic way. For shame.

My only questions are...What does it matter? Why do we need know when the "world" will end? What good does it do us? If it were to end tomorrow or 30 years from now it would make no difference. We should live good lives and do what we can to help our fellow man and then, if there are rewards after death or another plane of existence to pass into, well..then it doesn't matter when it happens..we can only wait and see....

My 2.5 cents......so to speak....

I value what you said however, my friend, at more then 2.5 cents. What you said is entirely right. God didn't mean life to be this complicated or at least for us to make the world what we have.

"Therefore I tell you do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you more important than they? Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span? Why are you anxious about clothes? Learn from the way the wild flowers grow. They do not work or spin. But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed like one of them. If God so clothes the grass of the field, which grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith? So do not worry and say, 'What are we to eat?' or 'What are we to drink?' or 'What are we to wear?' All these things the pagans seek. Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. Seek first the kingdom of God and his rightiousness, and all these things will be given us besides. Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its own evil.

Matthew Chapter 6 verse 25-34. "Dependence on God."

Making us terrified that the world is about to end, is a wonderful way of controlling us. Nuff said.

YEARS?!?!?!?!?!?! 😱 😱 😱 :wow: You sure that isn't days 750? 1,260 is about 7 years, which is what the Book of Hebron says.
