Once again Kurchatovium Thread Technologies brings you a new amazing thread: "The British Comedy Thread"

What are your favorite British Comedies. Monty Python we always be number one for me but there are so many good ones. Fawlty Towers, Benny Hill, The Young Ones, Red Dwarf..... So what do you think?

The Monty Python for me 🙂 Benny Hill maybe second🙂

Ahh a girl after me own heart...same choices for me followed by Fawlty towers............

Some of Benny's stuff actually went beyond hilarity into the sublime.

But, overall, I'd have to go with:

1) Last of the Summer Wine
2) Absolutely Fabulous
3) Keeping up Appearances

as my top three.

Tally Ho!! (Limeyspeak for Cheers)😀

oh yes, Fawlty Towers and Monty python! 😀
I have some of Monty Python movies and they are hilarious!🙂

I have seen "Are You Being Served?" a couple of times on public television. That Britcom is so funny! Especially that one guy who seems to go both ways. 😀

i may be cheating as i'm from the UK, but monty python and fawlty towers are very high on my list!

whatever you do, don't mention the war!

Faulty Towers all the way, beyond brilliant and John Cleese, in my opinion, is one of the finest, most underrated comedic actors who's ever lived. 😀

IMHO, nothing tops the original Monty Python television shows, not even the Monty Python films.

Aahhh yes, Milagros The Monty Python!!!!🙂
I think Fawlty Towers would be my second choice 🙂

As a Brit, you lot should check out our comedy today or recent. Like Father Ted, The Office, The League of Gentlemen, etc. Never got to watch Fawlty Towers or Monty Python properly (I'm still young), but I have to say that John Cleese is not underrated by any means (in the UK), but in the USA, well he is underrated.

That said, I love Manuel. "Meester Fawltee! Meester Fawltee!"

Right I'm off. "I'm free!" (minces away)

I think John Cleese is one of the top comedic actors of all time. Thats why I rate Monty Python as number 1 and Fawlty Towers as number 2.

There was a British comedy called "Barbra" that was pretty good but it was not on long. I don't know how recent that is or if it has been cancelled.

Benny Hill is my all-time favorite comedy. (Even the reruns!)

Rowan Atkins as Mr. Bean is terrific. He's pretty good as Black Adder, too.

Are you being served is excellent.

The Young Ones and Red Dwarf were hillarious.

I've seen two episodes of Coupling, and it looks like it may be a winner, too!

Well if this isn't a subject that's just pissed me off for the last week! Let me explain!

I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to play these damn DVDs on my American crap player. They are region 2...lovely. I can see the covers of the The Office, and Peter Kay's collection. BUT I CANNOT WATCH THEM!🙁 :sowrong: So, this birthday gift is not being put to good use! Don't even get me started on the video collection of League of Gentlemen and Ali G that are still at the shop being converted! ARGH!

Why can't they just make everything a universal format! BLAH!

Red? You haven't chimed in on this thread? You feelin' ok? Can I con ya into huntin' down somethin' I can watch on my TV, sweetums? 😉

For the thread, I enjoy Monty Python, Benny Hill, Are You Being Served?, as well as Keeping Up Appearances. And Joby, since you can't watch your DVD's, want someone to tickle your lovely peds to occupy you?

Smiley

Far be it from me..............

........to blow my own trumpet, but to call this thread "new" is something of an exageration!! students of my previous threads on this subject will back me up. Its curious to note how small an impact Brit comedy has made septic side since the days of Monty Python and Benny Hill, those shows are over 20 years old since they were last made, it feels a bit like me suggesting "I love Lucy" was the epitome of septic comedy!! even I am willing to admit you have made progress since then!! so whats the reason? do you just not get to see our shows or have they all just fallen flat through lack of political correctness and moral posturing?

Apparently someone in the head office said, "Limey rubbish! We wouldn't DARE let Pepsi sponsor that show!"

😉

Seriously, they just dont' show the stuff here.
