This is a legend that comes down from the Native Americans..................
Once a young son of the Indian Chief went hunting with his father..........while hunting he wandered off and found a Buffalo herd! While maintaining his distance he found a dead buffalo! He was about to call his father when he notice the buffalo god headed towards his dead friend!
What he saw next was truly amazing! The buffalo god began to chant and dance around howling and singing! Then much to the boys shock the dead buffalo spang back to life!!!!! The boy could hardly believe what he saw!!!
Many years went by and that boy became the Chief of the tribe and bore a daughter. One day his daughter was playing in the water and drowned. For days the Chief grieved for his child!! Then he remembered what he'd seen the buffalo god do!
He took the body of his dead daughter and rode out to the plains. There he met with the buffalo god and begged him to restore his daughters life. The buffalo god thought for a moment, then said no. The Chief asked why?
The buffalo god said, It is man who kills all my children, man is our enemy. Why should I save one of your children to loose one of my own??? Moved by this the Indian Chief said what if you were to teach me this sacred dance of life, and when we kill the buffalo for meat and clothes we will perform the sacred ritual dance to save his spirit, before we eat?
The bufflo god agreed and taught the dance to the chief who taught it to the Indians!!
