Maybe I'm being silly on this rather lazy Saturday Night..Maybe it's because I had Meat Loaf for dinner....and that Homer Simpson got angry when Bart fed an end piece of meatloaf to the Dog...
So I ask my fellow friends on this Forum:
Just how important and sought-after is the End Piece of the Meatloaf?:jester:
 
I always prefer the piece in the middle that has a hard-boiled egg in the center of it. 😀

In answer to your question, I rarely eat the end pieces of anything. Just way too crunchy for me!

Now, if you mean the corner pieces of birthday cake with the flowers and thick icing, yeah baby!!!!!!!!!😀
 
I don't make meatloaf, but when I was growing up, that's the way my mother always made it: with a row of hard boiled eggs in the center. 😀

I've seen recipes with that method as well,although I've never eaten it that way!

By the way,leftover meatloaf slices on bread with ketchup for lunch....mmmmmmm! (Mr. Burns:Catsup?.....Ketchup??)
 
*raises hand* Yep...I like the end pieces. Actually, I generally do a couple smaller loaf pans rather than a baking dish just so there are 4 end pieces instead of two. I think the attraction is that all the juices end up cooking in along the sides as the meatloaf bakes. So, it's not only cooked a bit more, but has more flavor.

Good with meat loaf... put a couple sticks of mozz cheese in it before baking... Mmmm... good stringy cheesy...

Yeah, the cheese idea sounds good. I also saw a low carb program on food network where the guy rolled cheese and ham into the meatloaf. It looked really good. I think I may try it sometime...🙂
 
Back in the day, I used to go to my best friend's house for Sunday dinner. His uncle used to put it out at like 2PM, and we'd eat while watching football or whatever. More often than not, he made meat loaf. Actually, to call it that was a stretch. It really was the most godawful shit that I've ever had. I used to pour bottles of ketchup (one day, I brought a bottle of A1 steak sauce in my coat pocket, and put it on the table while no one was looking) just to kill the taste. My best friend's uncle actually thought he was Emeril. What it actually was, was like the old "Little Rascals" comedies, where they put together something made from old tires and old socks and stuff, and they had to eat it, with oh so happy faces. After a while, I would invite my best friend over to my house, for a reprieve from his uncle, who was and still is ninety five percent ego. Capital idea, Fester... :wow:

By the way: for our British friends here...A1 steak sauce is HP, only it doesn't taste as good!

mmmmmm or frozen coolwhip (kinda tastes like vanilla ice cream)...hmmm meatloaf...my dad makes a good one...usually mom eats the endpieces i think or he does
