Yup, hubby and i were sitting as calmly as you please earlier this morning minding our own business when the living room ceiling decided to crash down around our heads...well not literally....we heard this cracking noise, the cat disappeared, skidding into the kitchen.....and then a crash...we ventured around the corner of the house...and right in front of the bow window, where a sectional couch sits, part of the ceiling now is lying..that's where i kneel and look out the window while on the phone...i could have been sitting there...wowo....the treadmill is located upstairs over that spot...could have something to do with it...now there is plaster everywhere..and when i gather my strength, i'll go sweep some of it up...last year part of the kitchen ceiling decided to join us for breakfast...damn..you know that saying? i think it goes.."I don't need the house to fall now around my head" meaning everything else has happened..don't fall on me...o well i'm not complaining, at least i have a house with a ceiling that can fall on us....there are those who don't....i'm just sharing this rather humourous adventure with you all..

but the good news is..for some reason my tooth ain't hurting today..hmm and my craving for cigs is practically nil....

ahh life is good....and the unexpected makes it fun..

Yikes, you're way more optimistic than I would be in that situation. 🙁

You got some extra sunshine you can share with the rest of us? Honestly, you're a strong woman.

lol you two..it's not as bad as it reads...david made a propper upper thingie out of wood to prop up the part of the ceiling that didn't fall...the worst part is the plaster dust..ugh...and silly chelsea keeps going over and staring on her hind legs at the hole in the ceiling lol...he did say however that in order to match the plaster, he will need to tear down the rest of the ceiling in that area....i hope he doesn't mean the entire first floor, as that is a lot of ceiling to cover...sighs..

i ain't strong...i just don't worry anymore like i used to over things one can't do anything about ..it's like my tooth...it doesn't hurt right now, but it sure will soon...i can count on that..but there are others out there with soo much more important problems....so i looked at this event that happened this morning in a humourous light...hence the rip off on Poe..hehe...

ah the continuing saga of isabeau....quite entertaining if you ask me..at least life isn't boring here where i reside..lol...

Isabeau, You are a Strong Lady with alot of Character :twohugs: I am just happy that nothing happened to you or your family 😎

Izzy I'm shocked... You of all people... I would never expected to hear of you getting plastered. You obviously need an intervention and to to CA, ceilings Annonymous.[/

lolol....o he's a genius when it comes to making things with his hands..he is most definitely a real man when it comes to home projects and the like..the only kind of man to marry, in my opinion..he can fix anything. i judge a man by his hands...if they look soft and well taken care of, they ain't no man for me...i like the rugged, rough, look of a hand that means they know how to use those hands and get things done..

o just to clarify.....i do not live in a shack lol...we live in one of the nicest areas in our town...if you don't believe me, those of you who have my phone number, google it and up will come all info on my home, how much we paid, how much it's worth, when we bought it...etc....lol...ok a lame joke...seriously, though, it was the plaster part of the ceiling that came crashing down; not the entire ceiling..i mean the floor boards are still there from upstairs...the entire hole is probably the width of the middle bow window, however if he hadn't propped up around it, more would have fallen..what puzzles us is why? the home insurance people are coming by tomorrow..the home is old...built in 1930, but redone in early nineties..i love it..older homes have charm that today's home's dont'..

Thank goodness no one was hurt!

I`m terribly sorry to hear of your latest adventure,Isabeau! I`m just glad you are all okay!I can only imagine how much of a shock that must have been!

Keep up the positive attitude,Izzy, and don`t hesitate to drop a line if you need to vent! You are doing much better than I would with a hole in the ceiling! Not to mention the dust and debris everywhere! I`ve done plaster work,so I know what a mess it can be.It will be interesting to to hear what your insurance agent has to say.If I had to guess,I`d say that the vibration from the treadmill broke off the "keys" that held the plaster up.If you can do so,perhaps you should move it downstairs.

Hang in there,Isabeau! It`ll be as good as new in no time! :twohugs:

Gosh, Izzy, I am very sorry to hear about this. Thank heaven no one was hurt.

Mitch

aw thanks guys....o dont' worry, the job will get done, hubby is a fanatic when it comes to these things...hmm or was...hmm we still have a small hole in the kitchen ceiling...and the shower which he tore out last year is stilll incomplete..hmmm he is slipping..o no...what to do..

thank you paracarl...i dont have bad teeth...i have an impacted wisdom tooth...and don't worry i'm getting it taken care of next month...but thanks for your concern...in fact my teeth are in great shape, except for that minor problem...why do they call them wisdom teeth? they don't even have wisdom enough to understand they are supposed to come in when you are in your teen years..grrrr lol..

Plaster/ Teeth.

Once lived in a house that was built around the Civil War Years. The plaster was held together by being mixed with horsehair. There was no chance of replacing it except for drywall.
Both of my wisdom teeth develped cavities but they were not impacted. However I knew a guy who hated to go to a Dentist even when he developed a bad toothache. One day we heard that he ended up in critical care at Hershey Medical Center due to the poisin that was in his bloodstream. He was released to a Nursing Home where he lingered on for several months. Needless to say I had my wisdom teeth extracted before I heard to his predicament.
