I know it's well-intended, but I always felt that vouching (in that way) only encourages fraud.isabeau said:....or else when a friend of mine posts a personal, i will post a comment, vouching for that person..as i did for you Danny..

It's just that if such vouching actually works (or guys believe it works) to get responses, then the best strategy for guys to employ would be to create female-sounding names, post a few time (to increase their alter-ego's post count and gain a "standing"), then "vouch for themselves" in their own ads. Sure it's a bit unethical, but since it's so easy to do and essentially harms no one, I'd think many would try it.isabeau said:um why?

I'd say if someone wants/needs a reference before responding to a personal, they should probably just seek out that reference themselves--i.e., no unsolicited "vouchers." Actually, IMO, I think if someone really needs an unknown online reference before responding to an online personal ad from another unknown, then they're probably not ready to do much at all....but that's another discussion.
Awesome. Sounds like more guys should get themselves a voucher to me.steph said:Hm, interesting take. I've had a lot of success vouching for my girlfriends and having them vouch for guys to meet with for fun and safe play.
