So I figured, to get everyone in the spirit, if they would share any holiday traditions, recipes, stories, or even wish list - anything at all to get into the holiday spirit 😀

I can't wait for Thanksgiving to roll around so while the turkey cooks I can set up the tree with the Macy's Day Parade on ^-^ <3

Yay for this thread! I'm a bit of a holiday crazy person!!!

One of the traditions that our family does is on Christmas Eve, when we all open our gifts to each other (aka anything NOT from Santa), while drinking my late aunt's warm spiced cranberry tea and listening to Christmas songs and of course, eating all of those yummy Christmas cookies! Sounds very "Hallmark" I know, but I can't help it, I love those times with my family. Last year it was difficult to get into the holiday spirit as it was our first Christmas after my mom died but this year I'm feeling a little better about it. We like to watch a local news channel here that has the "Santa Spotter" so it's always fun to see where Santa is and how close he is to coming! I love watching my sister's kids get so excited about that. After watching Rudolph and Charlie Brown's Christmas specials I have the dvd's for, "A Christmas Story" gets turned on TBS and left on until the marathon ends! It's kind of our background "music." We'll all pile into a car and go and drive around and look at the Christmas lights too while listening to Christmas music. I can't wait until Christmas Eve!!!! After the kids go to bed, us adults stay up and have a few glasses of wine and just enjoy being with each other until we fall asleep.

We have Christmas for my son.....other than that we have a nice small family dinner on Thanksgiving with my mom and brother...

No more huge celebrations as work gets in the way....

My nieces leave santa cookies and a beer 🙂

This Santa Would approve!!!!!

Our traditional Thanksgiving is just that. Our family and a few close friends get together for a nice dinner and football!!!

Christmas is a different story. Christmas eve we have a small get together to read Twas the night before Christmas to the little ones, sing some carols and have a gift exchange. On Christmas day we make a dinner and have a family time moment. We remember some of our fondest memories and bring out the photo albums. Share stories with the kids that they never believe and then have Coffee and Some pie. Followed by the Egg Nog and Brandi!

I always watch the old school Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Thanksgiving. :redheart:

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation should be watched at least once (preferably more) between now and Christmas. :xmas:

I one hundred thousand percent agree!!!

That's such a unique tradition 😀 my movies are a little more seasony but not as predictable as A Christmas Story (though that one is awesome too). I have to watch "The Year Without A Santa Claus", "Here Comes Santa Claus", "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" (all the stop motion clayish mation ones 😀), "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" (cartoon), and "The Nightmare Before Christmas" <3 or else it just doesn't feel like Christmas :3

I hope to be snuggling up by a cozy fire on Xmas eve with my idol and mentor Crystal. :woot:

Imma give you a recipe of awesome that has been made every year in my family and I intend to continue it while living on my own 🙂

Suicide Brownies:
What You'll Need:
~Two of your favorite brownie mix
~Semisweet chocolate chips
~Two baking pans the same size
~Pourable fudge topping
~Pourable caramel topping
~Bars of either Milky Way or Snickers (the mini/funsize work lovely)
~Large serving platter

What You Need To Do:
~First, chill the candy bars, fudge, and caramel topping in your fridge for use later
~Next, mix the both brownie batters and while you do this, add the chocolate chips
~Bake
~Now, when you are down to the last five minutes of them cooking, take out the bars of candy and chop them - if you have the minis, just four ways will do just fine, if bigger, just until they are little chunks of candy.
~Take them out and let them settle but not cool
~While still hot, remove both brownies from pan and cut them into squares of any prefered size but all the same size
~Place the first brownies on the platter, similar to the way they were set up in the pan but with little gaps now between them
~Take your fudge and caramel and drizzle them all over
~Place the second layer of brownies on top of the first layer
~Drizzle the fudge and caramel again
~Sprinkle little chunks of candy on top
~Serve warm

😀 Enjoy <3
