Two months ago, I did a live broadcast for the radio station at one of the local fitness centers. I've been friends with the owner for about 10 years now (In fact, i dated her several times loooooooooooong ago), and during the show we got into a discussion about "The Biggest Loser" on NBC.

Having been heavy for quite some time now, I suggested that we do a variation on that, as a cool promotion for the fitness center and the station (And get a free membership in the process). Being the human guinea pig that I am, I volunteered to be the front man for the project, and start on a workout program so that I could be a good spokesman when we actually initiated the "Loser" idea.

Under the tutelage of the staff, I started working out five days a week, with lots of heavy weight training and LOADS of cardio. My first weigh-in was 278 pounds. After four weeks of working out?

I lost 12 pounds and 9 inches total off my body!

The beer gut is slowly disappearing, my body is taking on a proper muscular shape, and my general energy level and flexibility is incredible. My initial goal is to lose 35 pounds by Christmas, eventually making my way to the 200 pound mark. January 1st, when most people start their New Year's Resolutions, we start the "Biggest Loser" promotion, with me as the shining example of what hard work and diligence can do for you.

Many of my listeners have been following my progress, some even joining the club and starting their own programs. As for me? I'm in the groove physically and mentally. I've found at least seven shirts in the closet that now fit again. Confidence has gone WAAAAAAAAAAAY up.

And now a stupid confession....despite being friends with many here in this wonderful little community of ours, I have (deep breath) chickened out umpteen times of going to several tickling gatherings 🙄 I just didn't feel comfortable with my size. It's stupid, I know, but some of you will understand why I felt that way. But now?

BWAH HA HA HA HA....THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING SEAN MAN STANDS READY FOR THE NEXT GATHERING!

Congratulations, Sean! I hope you reach your fitness goals and get the body you've always wanted! (Sorry if I sound like one of those TV infomercials.) 😀

First of all, congratualtions on your weight loss and I hope you reach that Christmas goal. Even if you don't, you'll feel and look better than you did when you first started.

After a year of stalls, I'm back on track again. I've lost 13 lbs since Oct 3. Add that to the 40 I've fought to keep off for the last year and it's 53 lbs. The 40-lb curse has been broken! I have a lot further to go than you do, but I'm rooting for your success!

I went to my very first gathering in Dallas for labor day weekend. Yes, I was the biggest thing there, but the people aren't there to judge you. They're there to socialize, meet new ticklephiles, to tickle and get tickled. They boosted my confidence (even when I was too scared to much of anything). I even got to do some ler'ing and lee'ing. Fun was had by all!

I've blown off my NEST invitation for two years, mostly due to size issues. If my budget is right, I intend to go this year regardless of how much I weigh when that time comes. I challenge you to meet me there-if no one else tickles you (which I sincerely doubt) I'd certainly be honored for the opportunity! :woot: 😀 :couch:

Congrats,You have made a decision that will change your life.I too,had always been heavy.I have been eating healthy, working out three times a day,and weights every other day.I have went from 237 to 151.I now too am ready for that first gathering.Keep up the good work, just remember one thing,"good food doesn't come from McDonalds".Let me tell you the best thing is when, you go shopping and you can buy that smaller pair of jeans,or that smaller shirt.Good luck to you stick to it the rewards are wonderful.

P.S. Hope I didn't blow my own horn to much..... :firedevil :firedevil

Way to go...

Congratulations on your weight loss. I'm sure it's a good feeling being that you can fit into clothes you haven't worn in a while. I bet youu feel great. Keep up the good work. BTW, I understand how you feel about boycotting gathjerings because of your size. When you feel self conscious about yourself, you are reluctant to present yourself to strangers. I know how you feel, I have been there myself. Keep us posted on how you are doing

way to go, Sean.

Yes, I know how you feel. I'm not a thin woman by any means. But, thanks to many people on here, I've come to accept myself, size and all. Life is too short to wish you were someone else. I can't do it anymore. If a man can't accept me because of my size, I don't want him anyways. 😱

Congrats on the weight loss. What great motivation! I just went to the Motown gathering (my first) with great trepidation because of my weight. But there were enough close friends there to make me feel comfortable. I am also hoping to go to NEST next year. It would be awesome to finally get a chance to meet you...no matter what size.
