This is a quick rough sketch (which I could have spent more time on but just wanted to get out of my system while the idea was still fresh) I drew for an art contest being held at deviantart where the rules were that we draw Mutsumi Otohime (of the anime series Love Hina) in an 'alternate universe' of sorts, or something along the lines of cosplaying.

This submission features Love Hina's own Mutsumi Otohime as a Jedi Padawan learner. I thought mixing something completely different that wasn't even anime would give the picture a uniqueness all it's own. I also felt I could use Mutsumi's somewhat oblivious nature to good effect for the theme of this picture. Hopefully I've achieved that.

I've therefore named this picture "the little jedi that could", modeled after the story title of "the little engine that could", wherein a seemingly helpless little train overcomes adversity and becomes happy, appriciated, and respected. While Mutsumi is happy, is appriciated, and is respected, you just can't help but symphathize with her in this situation. ^__^

Enjoy. ^^

Hehe...that's very cute. ^^x Very much like what I'd expect Mutsumi to say, too.

Thanks alot, I'm glad you like it. ^___^

Yeah, I was going to have her call it a lightsaber, but then I thought that wouldn't be oblivious enough, so I had her call it a 'laser thingy' instead. Lightsabers are activated by pressure plates in the handles, so for her to think it's as easy as pushing a button adds to the fact that she's really out her of element. And since this is, thus far, a stand alone picture, she would be out of her element.

Also, coincidentally, Mutsumi, up until a certain point in the series, is weak and is prone to lightheadedness, fainting, and anemia (sp?). She's also a klutz. Point is- I wouldn't feel save around her with a lightsaber! She might swing in the wrong direction and take someone's head off! LOL! 😀

And what makes all of that funny most of all and ironic is that Mutsumi is actually smarter than both Keitaro and Naru. She's got the brainpower, she just doesn't always know how to use it.

Nice CE. This is a cute pic and the comment is dead on. When I read it, I actually felt an urge to facefault (Thankfully, I didn't. That hurts a lot... yes, I know from experience...).
Keep up the great work.

LOL, well thank you. I'm glad you like it. ^__^

Hey, if you want to 'do an anime' as it were, go right ahead. Although, apparently, you already have. How many times is up in the air though. 😉 😛

Oh that picture made me laugh when I first saw it. I could actually imagine Mutsumi's voice actor's voice saying the words adding to the fun.

One thing I wanted to point out though, I haven't scrutinized this image very far but I dislike the fingers on her left hand (her left :s). The pointing finger seems too short though I could have just imagined the proportions wrong.

Be sure to tell us how you do in the competition Celtic!

It made you laugh? Thats nice, thank you. ^^ Yeah, I took into consideration what it would sound like if Jean Howard and Satsuki Yukino (Mutsumi's english and japanese voice actors) would have said that. I liked drawing this picture. Maybe I'll draw some of the other as jedi, or even sith.

As for the hand, hands are always difficult. Its the part I have the most difficult time on. Ironically feet are far easier to draw. But as long as the hands don't look too bad, I guess its alright. Its not like its a major distraction.

As for the contest, as far as I can tell I have one vote, and the other person has none. I can even vote for myself if I want to, but I'd only do that to break a tie. But I don't think it will come to that. I'm pretty sure I've got this thing won. Provided people vote fairly and for the right reasons theres really no way I can lose. And if I do, I guess the jokes on me. LOL ^__^

Hands hands hands... I can't draw hands to save my life, so consider yourself lucky you can draw them at all. ^^x; I also suck at drawing feet, which is one of the major reasons I don't contribute any artwork of my own to the forum. There are days I really wish I'd taken an art-class...but I guess someday when I'm not up to my neck in computer related work, I'll try to get myself learned at it.

I think, that dispite that, you should post your artwork anyway.

And I'm going to say something that is against tradition- you don't need art class to learn how to draw. You can teach yourself, thats what I did (though it doesn't bear fruit for everyone). I don't trace, either. While different people get different results depending on natural talent, I'll again say that you should post your artwork. If not for you then for us.

If the only thing holding you back is fear of critiques then you'll never get around to posting your work. At least, not until you feel its good enough. Thats IF, thats the reason.

If its not, I'd like to know why. It would be a shame to keep your art to yourself.

Well, I'm not exactly worried about what people would think -- I just haven't drawn anything for months. I've been too busy with computing studies and such. Hmm...anyway, here's a non-tickling related Dragonball style picture I drew one night I couldn't sleep. It's not perfect, but I quite like how it came out.

Some kind of...albino...hedgehog looking DB guy?

Oh, I just remembered the other reason I can't contribute anything. My scanner's broken. ^^x;

I wouldn' worry about anything, this is a good picture. In fact, I've seen pictures that aren't even half as good as this one is. You've got absolutely nothing to worry about.

As for your scanner, well, that would explain it now wouldn't it? 😛

Hopefully you can invest into a new one or fix your current one. Other than this, theres no reason for you to not be sharing your art with us, tickling or not.

Well, she is 21 years old and they are hers..so...😱

Update on the contest-

I have 4 votes and the other contestant's piece has none. The contest holder is apparently going to keep the poll open for another week. I don't mean to sound so sure of myself, but I've got this thing won, even with this simple sketch. I had it won the moment I entered. He/she should just end it already and give me the award. 😛
