Anyone else on this site a fan of Jonny Cash? I honestly can't get enough of him at the moment.

Here's him doing a cover of NIN's "Hurt". It's better than the original, I feel.

Cash fan by legacy. My dad loves him and so I was bombarded with Cash until I came to appreciate him too.

'Hurt' is a great tune, probably my favorite Cash, either 'Hurt' or 'I've Been Everywhere' which is just insanely cool

No prob... have you heard the original of Rusty Cage? It's pretty good too, but very different from Cash's version.

The Soundgarden version? It's pretty cool, really energetic, great for the gym.

PS: Just checked out Cash's version. I was not disappointed in the least!

lol at first I thought you were talking about the man in black character from Stephen King's Dark Tower series.

Yes, I am something of a Cash fan.Didn't care too much for Hurt, but that's because I hate everything about NIN with a passion

I really like Johnny Cash. I remember hearing that he did that video like insanely close to the time he died.

My son's obsessed with the Walk the Line movie and loves listening to Johnny Cash CD's also. 🙂

One of my favorite songs:

I just started playing this song and my son comes running over, looks at me and is like, "Johnny Cash, mama?"

He knows his shit. 🙂

i don't usually listen to this genre too much, but Cash was a damn good artist and his songs will be remembered for a long looong time

Another fan here. In my 6 disk changer in the car, one of his compilation cd's is the one disk that never leaves the player.

"My name is Sue!"
"How do you do?"

That's still one of my favorite songs.

Huge Cash fan here! His live prison records "Folsom Prison" and "San Quentin" are two of the greatest ever made.
Anything from his Sun records period is essential. There's a great 4 disc set out covering his Sun and Columbia era.
And this one doesn't get talked about too often, he cover's "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" on The Man Comes Around. His version is just emotionally incredible!

Johnny Cash is the original badass.

That album of covers is awesome. "You Don't Know How It Feels" originally by Tom Petty and "I See A Darkness" by this indie guy Bonnie "Prince" Billy are my favorite.

My grandmother introduced me to Johnny Cash (not literally, just to his music) when I was only 10 or 11. I still can't get enough. Everyone has been talking about the covers he did and you mentioned "I See a Darkness". That's a wonderful song, but I always thought Will Oldham wrote it. Many thanks to you, after giving me incentive to look it up, I found that Bonnie Prince Billy and Will Oldham are actually the same person. He's a great songwriter for the most part so now maybe I'll get to hear a few more from him.

Anyway, almost the entire Unearthed 5-disc set is cover songs. He does a great version of Neil Young's "Pocahontas" and a haunting rendition of George Jones' "He Stopped Loving Her Today" (already one of the saddest songs ever written, imagine what Johnny could do to it). He does Beck's "Rowboat", Leonard Cohen's "Bird On a Wire", and even a song written by Danzig, "Thirteen". If you like Johnny Cash and you like cover songs, Unearthed is essential. From what I've read, there's still a good bit of unreleased Cash material. Hopefully, it'll see the light of day sometime soon.

Anyway, here's a few cool videos of The Man In Black...

My grandfather sang this to me when I was really young, I love this song...This is Cash and Dylan "You Are My Sunshine"..

Johnny and Louis Armstrong playing together on the Johnny Cash Show

Last but not least, Johnny Cash and John Denver singing and playing Country Roads Take Me Home on a 1978? John Denver TV Special...This is incredible.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/sn1jELFBCns&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/sn1jELFBCns&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Hope you like them.

Thanks for letting me know about that album. I will definitely look it up.
