I don't know if the new stadium has artificial turf or real grass, I hope it's the latter. And it's about time the Super Bowl will be held outside, somewhere other then Florida or California for instance. I've always hated domed stadiums and artificial turf. Football should not be played inside, on plastic fields or whatever they make that stuff out of. Kudos to the NFL. This just might help renew my intrest in the league.

Finally the state of New Jersey gets some respect. 😀

I just hope the weather is decent. I liked the idea of playing the games in warm weather, climate controlled environments.

The big game in that new stadium should be exciting.

I suspect I'm a lot older then you. I remember watching football on TV long before domed stadiums and artificial turf came along, and going to some games as well. The weather and field conditions were what they were, and the teams and fans dealt with it as best they could.

Please understand I'm not being critical of you personally. We all like what we like. And it's all good. 🙂

i hope there is a blizzard and feet of snow, nothing says football like a game in a blizzard

Well, since this is the closest the Jets or their fans will ever get to a Super Bowl, I'm all for it. 😀

It's about time the Superbowl is played in an outdoor, cold-weather field. Teams need to play in weather like that to get to the Superbowl, so why should the last game be played like arena ball. I don't see why there are any domes in a sport where the elements are part of the game.

I knew there was something about you guys I like. 😀 Could not agree more. You know what I'd really like to see? I think the game should be played in the stadium of the NFC winner one year, the winner of the AFC the next. Then back to the NFC. You get the picture. Never going to happen of course, because the Super Bowl is all about the dollars.

Can you imagine what would happen if MLB announced that from now on the World Series would be played on a neutral field? There would be rioting in the streets.

The only reason why that would not work is that Super Bowl tickets are bought and sold months in advance.

If the venue was undecided it would affect sales big time due to a myriad of factors (ticket refunds, hotel bookings, rental cars, flights to and from the city...)

But it is a great idea (except for the possibility that some venues might get to host it often if teams repeatedly reach the Super Bowl).

Domes in football are a joke as much as they are in baseball. They make players far better than they really are and boost the home teams chances of winning when they play teams that aren't used to arena ball. Peyton Manning probably isn't even close to Tom Brady if he plays outdoors in every game. Same could be said for other arena football quarterbacks that just huck the ball 50 times per game because wind and rain are never factors inside (......Kurt Warner).

I believe that when it comes to whether, if it snows, both teams have to deal with it. Even if you are used to playing outdoors, neither team really has the advantage when you're playing in harsh elements such as bad rain storms, snow, high winds, ect. You can't practice for gusty winds or snow any more than another team could. However, when it comes to domes, the team that is home to the fake turf is far more ready to play in that type of venue. They're entire offense is based on the indoors and their gameplan is based on the indoors with no weather factors. They are used to running on astro turf and definitely have the advantage I believe in those situations. I firmly believe that domes should be banned from baseball and football. There is no reason why there is a Dome in Tampa for the Rays, or in Houston for the Astros.

This game is four-years away. It'll still be the same warm-weather cities until then and after. Putting it in warm cities takes nothing away from it. New York barely won and there's a good chance the game will ruin the chances of another cold-weather Super Bowl ever being played again.

This is what I want for this awaiting failure of a venture just to placate New York.

Two high powered offense (ie Saints and say Colts for lack of better example) get into a 6-3 Super Bowl because the weather would be so bad.

They booked another band that no one under the age of 40 has ever heard of (no offense bugman) and it makes the world's worst halftime show.

And the ratings turn out to be the alltime lowest in the history,

Um.....This is going to be the most watched Super Bowl in History without a doubt. Good call though on the boringness of a weather affected game. Yea, that Pats vs Raiders game back in 2002 totally sucked. Snow coming down like crazy and maybe the greatest weather affected game ever played. Again though, excellent observation on your part.

BTW Lonestar, are you just bitter because you are either a Texans fan or a fan of the continuously disappointing Cowboys?

No I just dont think its going to work as well as some think it will, I watched when it was Steelers and Seahawks and didnt think that there was anything to it.

And if Im wrong I'll admit.
