Congratulations to Barry Bonds on setting the new all-time home run mark. No matter what all the haters say, you are the G.O.A.T.

Hank Aaron Forever.

It will always be Hank in my book.

Barry is still a disgrace.

Always hank. All real baseball fans know this. As do people with common sense.

Why does Barroids need all that body armor?

I mean,it isn`t like anybody today throws inside.I can`t recall Hank Aaron ever needing it,and he faced pitchers like Bob Gibson!

for the same reason why he cant play every game, cuz he is weak

The Evil One is welcome to roast in Hell with the number 756 branded on his forehead. :firedevil

PS: The hated jints lost the game in which he hit it.

Gee, maybe if he woulda stayed in the game, the team coulda won

More proof of how worthless a player he is, esp when was a triple from the cycle

reminds me of mr 3000, when bernic mac hits his 3000th hit, he walks off and retires saying screw the team

old news really, but...

I see no reason not to revist a milestone as great as this. I defer to Milo Hamilton with the call...
"Here's the pitch by Downing. Swinging. Here's a drive into left-center field. That ball is gonna be _ outta here! It's gone! It's 715! There is a new home run champion of all-time ... and it's Henry Aaron!"

A second perspective, from Curt Gowdy...
“The ball's hit deep... deep... it is gone! He did it! He did it! Henry Aaron... is the all-time home run... leader now!”

And Vin Scully with one last immortalization of the moment...
"Fastball ... there's a high drive into deep left-center field. Buckner goes back, to the fence, it is gone!" (25 second pause as the crowd cheered)

"What a marvelous moment for baseball. What a marvelous moment for Atlanta and the state of Georgia. What a marvelous moment for the country and the world. A black man is getting a standing ovation in the Deep South for breaking a record of an all-time baseball idol. And it's a great moment for all of us and particularly for Henry Aaron, who is met at home plate not only by every member of the Braves but by his father and mother."

Screw Bonds. he is no real athlete, just another walking mountain of testosterone that owes what success he has to substance abuse.

hank Aaron forever! Bonds isn’t even worthy of washing his sweat socks. :disgust:

I borrowed this from another Bonds thread....

I heard something of interest regarding Barry Bonds today....

You know that black bionic device he wears on his arm when he is at bat? Apparently he's the one of the very few, if not the only player in baseball, allowed to wear that device....

According to the story, that device acts as an arm stabilizer, allowing a player to achieve a faster and steadier hitting stroke than a player who doesn't wear that arm aid.....kind of like the wrist stabilizer used by bowlers to achieve a steadier bowling throw....

Bonds arm aid device has been banned from baseball because of the unfair advantage that it gives him over players who don't wear that device, but because of baseball union pressure, anyone who was previously allowed by major league baseball to wear the device can continue to do so, kinda like a "grandfather clause".....nobody else in the future can wear that arm stabilizing device.

So apparently, not only was Bonds injesting and injecting "internal" performancing substances, (and if you read that book "Game of Shadows", it is clear that there is a greater chance of, "if I murdered them, here's how I did it " O J Simpson being innocent of double murder than there is of Bonds not using performancing enhancing steroids), Bonds is also wearing an "external" performance enhancing device, that no other baseball player is allowed to wear, per current baseball rules.

Bonds is a cheater and an embarrassment to baseball who is bent on finding any advantage possible over his competition, whether the advantage is honest or not.

But I also blame major league baseball, who looked the other way when Sosa and Mc Guire were crushing records, because that home run chase raised the stature of the game, even though it was obviously done with performance enhancing substances.....so baseball is now reaping with Bonds what it has previously sown....

The thing that I don't get is this....Bonds would have been a slam dunk first ballot hall of famer without the needle sticking out of his arm, so why did he do it? My personal opinion and suspicion is that his ego is so massive that he couldn't stand the thought of Sosa and Mc Gwire getting all the homerun spotlight, so he had to "steroid up" to compete with them....and it is documented fact that never in the history of baseball has any player who ever lived registered the rapid and incredible statistical performance increases that Bonds has done, not even sure fire hall of fame players years younger...Bonds, after age 35, has the highest year over year hitting percentage increase, by far, of any player, of ANY age, in the history of the game....that's just not natural, and by all credible experts, that is physically impossible without the use of performance enhancing substances.....

I'm pretty much done with baseball over this fiasco. Bonds would have withered like a daffodil flower under the harrowing racism experienced by Hank Aaron and Jackie Robinson, and those two players still excelled.....Barry Bonds is not worthy, in either character, ability or integrity, to carry the jock strap of either one of those two baseball ledgends.....

Smaller ballparks, weaker pitching,on the juice.Yea he might be better than Hank...........Give me a break.

Right you are,Jaba! And therein lies the biggest problem I have with Barroids-his character and integrity have ALWAYS been suspect.Yes,he has natural ability, but that wasn`t good enough to satisfy his ego. He`s always been prone to throwing tantrums and acting like a jerk. How many times in his career, even BEFORE steroids, did he have tantrums and refuse to talk with the press or be a team player?Too many to count,I`m afraid!

I do thank you,Jaba, for sharing the info on his body armor! I was not aware of that.

Ticklesaurus,well said!!!!

Well if we are going to simply disregard the fact that Bonds has the most home runs and just continue to hail Hank Aaron as the Home Run King, then I will go ahead and just start hailing Babe Ruth as the true Home Run King. I love Hank Aaron but he needed over three thousand more at-bats to pass Ruth and also Ruth did not play full time his first 5 years. If he hadn't spent that time being the best pitcher in the American League, he would have hit well over 800 home runs fo his career and no one would have caugh him.

If a baseball purist wanted to go that route, I can't see an argument against it.....those stats may in fact be more accurate......I don't know much baseball, but that sounds kinda like the argument against the merits of the Roger Maris record, I believe....

Babe Ruth, to my knowledge, did not use, or need, an "arm stabilizing device" not used by most of his peers.....and the only "juice" Ruth may have injested before approaching the plate probably was of the alcoholic variety, not commonly known as a "performance enhancing substance"... :jester:

Yea. His slugging percentage (total bases/at bas) is very high.
