The New Way Photos Are Shown

I think it sucks, honestly. Anytime I go in any thread that has a photo attachment, my PC goes crazy if I even put my mouse over it by accident and forces a black, large pop up window.

Really a hassel. I dont know if anyone else is havin this issue, but I would suggest getting rid of it and goin back to the normal way where you have a choice if you wanna see a pic or not.

ya, I'm not really a big fan of that either. I thought people, including me, might get used to it and discover that it was a big improvement but I'm just getting more annoyed over time. I think we'll probably get rid of it soon unless a silent majority come forward and announce that they think it's the best thing to ever happen to the TMF.

I'll put my respectful vote in to NOT have this new way to view pictures. I've given it some time but I still find it a nuisance and annoying, and feel it makes it more difficult to look at a photo. Just chiming in.

I am using Mozilla Firefox with No-Script extension installed.
I had to block scripts from TMF because the new image "pop-up" thing proved a bit too distracting to me.

My two cents to the current matter.

It's either on or off for everyone. Could I rewrite the board to make it so only those who wanted it had it? Quite probably. Do I particularly want to (especially when the old method had no complaints)? Not really. 😀 Modifications tend to be troublesome as time goes on.

The lightbox is now disabled. Unfortunately Crystal, as much as we love her, is not nearly scary enough on her own to justify keeping it around in the face of such concerted opposition. Gone is the annoyance. 🙂

A friend of mine came up with all kinds of galleries (flash and whatever) every other day and all I could say was "looks cool but it sucks like hell".
Some times the simple things are best ;-)

I appreciate the continuous updates you all do for the forum, and will try to state my opinion in a polite way since I don't pay to partake in the many awesome things this site offers.

While I do think the older way of viewing attached pictures was better, the new way is by no means an annoyance to me at all.

So, with that, I say do whatever works best for everyone, and thanks for all the hard work.

I liked the new (now old) way better than the old (now new) way.

The pop up was a great idea, but perhaps it was too labour intensive for my processor. The images usually popped up a little bit too slowly. If you can get the images to pop up a little bit faster, this is excellent additional functionality for the forum.

I like viewing pics quickly. Perhaps the pop-up could display a quick view of an inferior quality image (same dimenions but smaller file size)? That way I can see if I like the image very quickly. This is especially important when I want to make an informed choice as to whether or not to download a free clip - (which obviously influences whether or not I then buy that clip).

The images attached with a clip are usually too small as thumbnails to determine whether or not the 'lee' appears to have a good reaction. I want to see a bigger image as quickly as possible to inform my choice. In these cases I preferred having a big black box pop up with the image just by hovering over it. This was far more convenient than clickling on the image and having it slowly open up in a new browser window. Much better to contain everything in one place.

Could you canvass opinion Re: The Pop-Up image viewer to a larger audience? What does the TMF really think? Surely only people with technical issues are likely to visit this section of the forum. These people may have even visited the forum to voice their discontent. Furthermore, only people dissatisfied with the new pop-up option are likely to review and comment on a thread specifically created to voice discontent with the pop-up.

Maybe TMFers DO prefer the old, click an image system - but is this really the case? After all, only 1 or 2 people have gone on record as not liking thew new system and one or two people have also gone on record in favour of it (Me, Crystak) or not minding either way (Annie).

I say - bring back pop up!

One reason why it was not appreciated. I am not sure if this would be better for smaller filesizes. The webpage contains code that is executed when you hover over an image. A smaller filesize might help a little but not 100%. And how to open the full image? Every attempt to click starts the preview hassle.

Me too 🙂 But I don't want to have something happen every time (which sucks) I hover over an image.

If this behaviour should ever come back one should be able to turn it off in the personal options. Thene everyone could live with it.

I really liked that feature, but since most people apparently didn't, I'd say nixing it was the right decision.
