I was editing part of a manuscript this morning for a philosophy book, and the idea of pleasure being the opposite of pain came up, which got my tickling-fetish Spidey senses tingling because this always has been a gray area for me, and I assume others in our community. I never have been into S&M, but I also realize that those who are tickled can derive pleasure from a sensation that, though not overtly painful, can be unbearable---yet in an erotic way. Every now and then, I come across clips in which some guy (always a guy for some reason), usually in a dungeon (suggesting a more S&M bent), has a woman restrained and alternates between whipping and tickling her, goading her during each cycle, i.e., “you want tickle?” during the whipping and “you want the whip?” during tickling. Though not my thing, I’m still fascinated by the psycho-sexual psychology at work here, i.e., how one could crave tickling---then turn to pain as an alternative. I also recall reading some article on our fetish that quoted some tickling models as saying they find tickling shoots more unbearable than S&M shoots. My question to the panel (for lers or lees): What is your mindset on this spectrum/divide?
