I see your point, I really do. Yet, I'll always have a soft spot for Durst. The Offspring, Korn and Limp Bizkit form the Holy Trinity of my teen years 😛

You make an interesting point. The music from that time in our lives does seem to become sacred in a way. I'm a little bit older, and I still have a soft spot for Seattle grunge and early NIN. Listening to it activates certain emotional states from memory.

While I really love the early albums of NIN, I got into industrial metal a bit later (around 15), at the same time when I discovered Metallica. Trent Reznor is a great artist who makes very sophisticated music, with a lot of depth. Durst can deliver an immense raw energy and has a certain talent for rapping, but he cannot compare. And yet, exactly as you said, because I discovered Limp Bizkit at around 11-12 and not at 15, they will always be a special band to me. Never mind the atrocious lyrics or the "straight in your face" melodies, whenever I hear Korn, The Offspring or Limp Bizkit, I still get those vibes no other post-1980's music gives me.

Lol, never thought we'd have a serious discussion when I posted this Family Guy joke and yet here we are 😀
