An interesting historical find: I am reading a book "Dracula: Prince of Many Faces", a biography of the famous Wallachian prince written by Radu Florescu and Raymond T. McNally. In a section recounting Vlad'"the Impaler" Dracula's various atrocities, executions, and tortures, the authors cite "Turkish sources (that) state that on one occassion he smeared salt and honey on the soles of captives' feet and allowed animals to lick them for indefinite periods of suffering".
Cool, eh? I wonder if, 450 years later, he did the same to Lucy and Mina...
