SPOILERS
I really enjoyed the new Rocky Horror last night. I can't say I liked every moment. But I did like most of them. So the fact that it made me laugh and put new aspects in place that I enjoyed... was awesome! 🙂
Remember the scene in the original where Dr. Frank N. Furter comes out and later sits on his throne in the beginning? They didn't do that here. THIS Dr. Frank N. Furter sat on the FLOOR of the stage under where the original throne was. I think that was done out of respect to the one and only true Dr. Frank N. Furter. So... keep that in mind. They knew there is no outdoing the original. I have issues with some reboots and only just a few with this one. I even will be buying it at some point. Which I really was not expecting to want to do.
Another thought is... When I saw the new Dr. Frank N. Furters entrance I groaned... but the more I watched the more I realized every person in life is an original. This character shouldn't try to be copied within a remake because well first off no one could. And every "Sweet Transvestite" WOULD have their own style in real life. Or in Transexual, Transylvania... 😉 Ever tried to imagine what THAT planet looks like via the citizens of this planet? I guarantee you they aren't all carbon copies of the original Dr. Frank N. Furter. Which brings forth another concept altogether. What is happening in Transexual, Transylvania that make Riff Raff amd Majenta keep forcing people to live out this same fantasy? Hmmmm? And that each person falls under the same "trap". Decadence. Seems to me like they're absolute Sadists who enjoy giving pleasure only to take it away. Going beyond: "He doesn't like me!!"
My next thought is... this remake shows yet again to be happy doing your own thing while you can. Life is short. And so each Dr. Frank N. Furter should be different to magnify that concept. Who he is on the inside is a very selfish person... but... through him people find out more about themselves.
This will not be the last time this movie is remade. So I look forward to the next one. Which is something I never thought I would say. And in saying that... There is no replacing the original... EVER! But I see the heart behind this new one and I'm proud of them for doing such a good job.
And adding the audience was BRILLIANT!! 🙂
