Pwinsider.com is reporting that former ECW and WWE champion Rob Van Dam is backstage at the site of tonight's Royal Rumble, and he will in fact be participating in the event. Check back here for more information as it becomes available

They have to struggle to find wrestlers to be in the rumble so they bring back alot of people affiliated or not

Its a shame they had to dumb the rumble down to 90 seconds per man

it was the best rumble match ive ever seen at one time 14 men were in the ring, but the matches outside of the rumble were terrible. Really happy Orton won

A full recap if you will...

First let me say that the hype of it all sucked me in, I had a feeling about this one and I didnt want to wait until it came out on DVD.

ECW Championship: Jack Swagger vs. Matt Hardy: A good one on one match nothing special, it saw Jack Swagger retain, after the match Matt Hardy looked down, he just couldn't believe he lost.

World Heavyweight Title: John Cena vs. JBL w/ Shawn Michaels: Everyone wondered if Shawn Micheals would break free of JBL, well he didnt, despite a super kick to both Cena and JBL, and Michaels pulling JBL on Cena, Cena walks out the World Heavyweight Champion.

WWE Championship: Jeff Hardy vs. Edge: We've all been waiting for Christian Cage's return to the WWE, well we'll have to wait a little longer, because it wasn't Christian Cage that was behind it all, it was...wait for it...MATT HARDY!!!

It all came to light as Matt blasted Jeff with a chair shot and Edge becoming the WWE champion yet again.

As for the Royal Rumble match itself, not a lot of high drama, you had your supriase at RVD, blast for the past was Hacksaw Jim Duggan, waste of space Santino Marrella and Brian Kendrick, and yoru winner of the 2009 Royal Rumble: Randy Orton.

Max Number of Superstars In The Ring: 13

Now the question I pose to you all is did the Rumble live up to the hype?

I enjoy the Rumble, but how many people were skinning the cat? I mean Shawn Michaels did it (that's how he won) several years ago and now all of the sudden, everybody was doing it.

yea i think it lived up to the hype i was disappointed that it was matt hardy instead of christian and the rumble itself was great id give the overall ppv an 8 out of 10

Have you seen any rumble between 92 and 96?

ive seen every single one of them, i wasnt alive for the first few but yes ive seen them all, and i like when there are a lot of people in the ring it makes it more entertaining and it was refreshing for a heel to win

Orton has tech become a face now or an anti hero just like austin because now he is feuding with the mcmahons.

I am surprised to see Kennedy was not apart of the Rumble, despite the decent-sized push he got during the previous year.

But having said that, isn't Christian still under contract with TNA?

agreed but they seem to be trying to inch him away from it but he is cheered by the anti cena crowd, but he is the closest thing to a heel winning that there has been in a long time

No he is with WWE now, but why bother to rush him in?

They will have the hardy\hardy fued for a while now and will prob put christian in as the driver guy but not working for edge and feud with edge.

no it ran out 2 weeks ago, but he isnt under contract with wwe yet either and as i said in a different post that either they are saving him for wm or contract negotiations are not goin well

But as of late, is seems that the McMahons have become the face. Remember when Stephanie commanded the Jericho get on his knees and apologize to the fans?

The 'heel' Stephanie would have commanded the fans get on their knees and apologize to Jericho. I didn't sense the smug and arrogance from the McMahons that we have seen over the years, which is a nice change of scenery, since they've been playing the 'evil boss' gimmick for over 10 years now.

intresting question now is with both the wwe and world heavyweight title being on the line at no way out in elimination chambers, does HHH win the wwe title at no way out and would they send Orton to smackdown to take on HHH at wm

If that's the case, he can always go to RoH as I have heard great things about them. Too bad we don't get any of their programming here in Texas.

i cant see him going to roh if wwe for some reason cant get him to return i would think he would just return to tna, and yes roh is pretty decent

If it ran out two weeks ago, then he's on his 90 no compete clause.

I also didnt know that Kennedy was hurt, when did this happen?

So could that have been the reason they brought in RVD... to replace Kennedy?
