I love finding great threads from the past. Especially one named "Is being tickled unmanly?"
And it got me thinking, does society expect that to be the case. Is it more 'acceptable' for girls to react with squirming and laughter when tickled than for guys? Do you see it as unmanly? Are there certain reactions that don't seem fit for guy to react with when tickled? What do you think society's expectations are when it comes to men and women being tickled, and are they true?

Geez...I feel like I'm writing a thesis here....😛

unmanly? no... but as a society i think we've grown accustomed to viewing men as 'powerful' and 'in control' .... tough per se i guess... its still a reaction we do not expect to see coming from a man, which is why some tend to enjoy watching and/or making one squirm with tickling...

just my thought 🙂

i dont reckon its unmanly really, but it does depend on the man. stereotypically women at supposed to be the most ticklish, and should always have cute little giggles and reactions to the slightest tickle. some people conform to this stereotype and some dont, its just the way the majority of society seems to work. on the other side of things, men arent often thought of as being ticklish, so giggling and ticklish reactions are expected or often thought to come from any man.
then for each one of these stereotypes, there is the opposite. women who arent ticklish, and those who are, but dont like to give any reactions, they hide it.
then theres guys who are very ticklish, and give out alot of reactions.
mainly, the way ive seen it, being ticklish is something that turns out to be cute, fun, no matter what the gender. its only really the people being tickled that decide whether they want to appear ticklish, and therefore they set part of the concensus that tickling is either manly or unmanly. when a friend tickles me, i tend to squirm a bit, maybe my voice will spike and i'll probably giggle, but since i dont make a point of trying to cover it up, it goes into the cute section, i reckon.

basically, the message im trying to convey in my own long winded way, is that tickling is neither manly nor unmanly, it cannot be determined for an entire population. it depends on many individual factors, and is ultimately a matter of opinion.
